Sometimes I can’t sleep,

Because I’m tired and sore,

So I write poems,

Because I’m bored.

Bored
Thomas James Oct 2011
I am bored,
With nothing to do,
So that is why,
I’m writing to you,
This lovely poem,
For you to enjoy,
To have forever,
Like a simple toy.
I don’t mind,
Do whatever you like,
For all I care,
Attach it to a bike,
And send it out to the world,
To a place unknown,
Or write it on a ball,
Then leave it alone.
These words mean nothing,
Unless spoken aloud,
So they can drift up like smoke,
And tickle the clouds,
For they remain by themselves,
Up high in the sky,
Cause science knows how,
But no one knows why.
Don’t leave this unread,
Better yet when your done,
Write it down and send it back,
So we can have some fun.
While sitting by the fire,
Sipping cocoa or tea,
Imagining things,
Ha! things that can’t be.
Like sea monsters, flying horses
And goblins under my bed,
In all sorts of colors,
All of it in my silly head.

As I have said,
All these are in my head.

So… As I lay bored,
With nothing to do,
Whoa! I just noticed,
I have just shared my wildest thoughts with you.

To my Parents, Happy 35th!
Thomas James Dec 2011
You guys have been together,
For 35 years,
So much has changed,
With lots of Laughter and tears.

You guys have struggled,
You guys have persevered,
As your children,
We had this growing fear.

That we could never satisfy,
That our goals were unclear,
But you guys guided us through,
As our role models through all these years.

And now another milestone,
35 years in the making,
Of love and happiness,
And we are here celebrating.

All apart,
But yet together in your hearts,
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

This thing called love
Thomas James Oct 2011
It started with a wish,

A wish of a kiss,

A kiss from the heart,

From the heart it starts.

It starts this love,

This love from above,

From above we can see,

We can see our destiny,

Our destiny of being together,

Being together always and forever.

It’s nights like this,
That gets me thinking,
Thinking about nothing.

It’s nights like this,
That gets me dreaming,
Dreaming about thinking.

It’s nights like this,
That gets me wondering,
Wondering about dreaming.

It’s nights like this,
That gets me contemplating,
Contemplating about wondering.

It’s nights like this,
That gets me deciding,
Deciding about contemplating.

It’s nights like this,
That gets me nothing,

Are good things always right?
Is it wrong to put up a fight?

There are gray areas that exist,
In fact there is an endless list.

What if an old man stole bread?
Is that not better than him being dead?

There is good and bad,
But the truth is always sad.

Don’t think of only wrong and right,

Saying in my head,
“I love you.”

Here again I sit.
Thinking of some way to say.
This three words,
That can brighten up your day.

Again I sit.
Thinking of you.
Wondering what you would say,
When I say “I love you.”

For the final time I sit.
Knowing what to say.
Then you came by and said “I love you,”
You just brightenned up my day.

Destiny
Thomas James Oct 2011
Can you please stay?
I don’t want you to go.
I got something to say,
Something I want you to know.

I wrote this poem to make you see,
That you and I are meant to be.
To tell you how I really feel,
That my love for you is oh so real.
So c'mon take my hand,
I’ll make you understand.
That I’m the perfect guy,
To always have by your side.

Each night I look up at the sky,
Wishing that you and I,
Would always be side to side.
Cause you mean so much to me,
I want the whole world to see,
That you and I are meant to be,
That this is our destiny.

That’s why I wrote this poem to make you see,
You and I are meant to be.
To tell you how I really feel,
That my love for you is oh so real.
So c'mon take my hand,
I’ll make you understand.
That I’m the perfect guy,
to always have by your side.

But you never seem to stay,
You always go away.
I could never understand,
Why you wouldn’t take my hand.
Did I do something wrong,
Is it because I wrote this poem.
Maybe you and I aren’t meant to be,
Maybe it was just my fantasy.
To have you in my arms,
To protect you from all harm.

Maybe I wrote this poem to make myself see,
That you and I could never be.
So I tell myself how I really feel,
That I’m stupid for thinking it was real.
So I looked on my hands,
I finally understand.
That I’m just a guy,
Who wants to be by your side.

Then the next thing I knew,
You were in clear view.
Walking your way up to me,
I thought this is just a fantasy.
So I turned around,
To go away from this town.
Then I heard you say,
“Can you please stay,
I don’t want you to go.
I got something to say,
Something I think you should know.”

“I wrote this poem to make you see,
That you and I are meant to be.
To tell you how I really feel,
That my love for you is oh so real.
So c'mon take my hand,
I’ll make you understand.
That I’m the perfect girl,
To complete your world.”

Jordyn
Thomas James Oct 2011
It may have started with a simple “Hello,”
Or maybe even a piece of gum.
But I knew you were someone special,
I just didn’t know there was more to come.

You were loud and cruel,
Oh wait, I mean kind and sweet.
Like a bag of candies,
You were quite a treat.

It was fun seeing you play,
The sport I truly love.
Soccer that is,
Not like anything else can come above.

As time went on,
And years have passed.
You grew into something great,
Something I hope that will last.

You became Jordyn,
And like you said, “I am me.”
“And honey,”
“That’s something you’ll never be.”

Sword!
Thomas James Oct 2011
What to do, what to do?
Should I sing? Or maybe write a poem or two.
Maybe something about a girl.
Or maybe something about our crazy world.
What about dogs and cats?
Oh, I can even write about the 9/11 attack!
But those dont seem to fit right,
It’s so hard to choose on what to write.
Is this what it means to have a blank mind?
Or am I just not using my time?
Why am I asking questions to myself?
Ugh, there I go again, I think I need some help.
Maybe I can write about how I’m bored,
Also it should deal with swords!
I love to hack and slash,
The sound of iron going clink and clash.
Like back in the day,
Where everything was okay!
Playing make believe,
but now we know, we have all been deceived.
About this thing we call life,
That is always full of strife.
It feels like everything looks bad,
This is making me kind of sad.
Ugh, I should go back to what I’m doing,
But I don’t have a clue and,
I’m really bored,
Oh, is that a sword!?

You can also be funny or cute,
Or maybe even nice,
Well that’s just how I see it,
Don’t blame me, I’m just a guy.

Let’s not get off topic,
Im here to write about a girl,
A girl who’s fierce and joyful,
Someone who can rock anyone’s world.

The first time I met you,
I knew you were going to be a problem,
You just kept on talking and talking,
And sounded like you had your own anthem.

Not only were you a problem,
You were once trouble too,
Now she became best friends with this other girl,
Double trouble, now were doomed!

But later I knew something has changed,
You grew up a little and became more mature,
That made me happy,
You were growing up to something pure.

I’m just happy to be a part of it,
Seeing you grow,
It gives me joy inside,
To be someone you know.

Well this poem is to you,

     But you,

     You are different,

Now,

You begin your journey,

To spread the faith,

To children overseas.

With God’s guidance,

               And I’ll be here waiting,

Praying for everything to go well,

               And I’ll be ready,

So active and small,
You looked like you wanted it all.

And then during a beautiful night,
While everyone’s eyes were fixed upon the moon,
You went missing,
You have hidden yourself in your cocoon.

So quiet and shy,
I asked myself why?

Next thing I knew you came back,
All magnificent and flying so high,
You grew wings!
You became a butterfly.

All that time you kept to yourself,
You wanted no one to give you help.

You wanted everyone to know,

Thinking of you in my head.

Trying so hard to sleep,

Saying in my head “why?”

Hoping this was all a dream.

Slowly it disappears,
With it are my fears.

My fears that you might come,
And yell at me “You’re Stupid and Dumb!”

I deserve everything you have to say,
For everything I’ve done that day.

I drove to that bar or club,
I drank like I couldn’t get enough.

You told me to stop,
Even said there might be cops.

As I drove you back in my car,
You and I started a word war.

“Stop! You’re Drunk, you’re not fit to drive!”
Then Crash-I’ve just killed my beloved wife.

Legs ready,
Body steady,
Mind is set,
One Goal: Put the ball on the net.

Quick pass and go,
Keeping the ball low,
Going for the long cross,
Taking a little pause.

Finding the perfect spot,
Putting in everything you've got,
You have one chance,
To live this moment in a trance.

The shot goes slow,
Because you know,
If this shot goes in,
You are for sure going to win.

Scared to look,
Maybe too much inside hook,
Crossed fingers,
Time slowly lingers.

As seconds countdown,
The audience with a roaring sound,
You know how it ended,
That shot can’t be defended.

And things aren’t going our way,
It’s not you but rather me,
I just don’t love you anymore, babe.

Seeing you
Thomas James Oct 2011
Seeing you smile,
Makes my world go crazy and wild.

Seeing you laugh,
Makes me want more cause I just can’t have enough.

Seeing you talk,
Makes time stop like there’s no ticking clock.

Seeing you walk away,
Makes me think that I want you to be mine someday.

Damn and Damned
Thomas James Feb 2012
I had this after thought,
A couple of weeks ago,
I haven’t met him,
That *******.

Maybe it’s best,
To leave the past alone,
And the other part of me,
I should have never known.

Hello
Thomas James Oct 2011
Even though you and I are worlds apart,
I miss you in the deepest part of my heart.

8033 miles separate you and I,
Thinking of that makes me want to cry.

I loved every moment I spent with you,
You were that girl I really knew.

A girl who I met and changed my world,
Someone who made my head spin and twirl.

I’m here in the USA,
Saying to you have a great day.
