Cloud and Rain
Theophilus Jun 2016
In the distance I see them,
Dark billows unfurling
A canopy of grey across the horizon,
Forcing the sun into seclusion.
The rain is coming.

In cadenced formation they advance,
Nimbus clouds on the march,
Curtains of gossamer white hanging
In their trail. The rain is falling.

The hills sigh with relief,
Refreshed at this sweet aspersion,
Renewed and restored
By the Providence that
Established their foundation.

The rain has stopped.
The clouds roll on to distant lands, impelled by a cycle that will see
no end.

And all the earth lies content
In quiet meditation,
Radiant on a bed of primordial mist.

The Wind
Theophilus Jun 2016
In the quiet stillness
of the early morn stand I,
spellbound by the
sight before me.

Pine-clad peaks
encompass me,
the rosy fingers of Aurora
on the brow of
the mountains.

Nothing disturbs my reverie.
All nature murmurs
Your name,
and my heart
leaps up for joy.

The birds are a-chirp
with song.
The stream gurgles
with delight.
The cool wind
enfolds me
in her embrace.
I am awash
in Your glory.

It is the wind
that reminds
me most of You.
You caress my face
as you speak of love,
Your gentle hand
mends this
broken reed.

I am drawn into
Your heart.
I am lost in You.
I strain to hear the
echoes of Your name
in the pines.
Theophilus Jun 2016
I awaken to the chirping of birds,
Sparrows chattering gaily,
flitting and fluttering,
In their thicket of green,
Regaling the dawn.

O happy contagion,
O irrepressible joy,
Their siren song beckons,
To share in their exuberance,
Their zest and passion for life!

To give humble thanks
For the start of day,
To trust in that Love
Where all life issued,
Where all Creation
In gentle balance hangs.

My spirit rises,
My heart races,
To face life anew.
Drawn on by a sense
Of hope,
Of purpose,
Of excitement,
A new beginning unfolds.

O the carefree spirit
Of the sparrows!
Without labour and toil,
Finding fullness of life,
Sustenance and freedom,
Enjoying flights of fancy
In the leafy expanse
Of their emerald world.
