If Only...
This girl, new to the world
She cries out for comfort
Eyes sparkle, a gorgeous girl
Extremely lively for a little squirt

Grown up, she somehow made the bad, good
This girl turned frowns upside down
She was out making miracles in the hood
And spreading Christianity in this sinful town

She led so many to God
And was perfect in every way
One of the few who weren't blindly flawed
And one of the few who wouldn't stray

She stayed true and loyal
Faithful to the one who made her
Never thought that she was princess royal
But instead a servant to the God of the Earth

She volunteered at foster homes
And helped all who were lonely
Making the forgotten feel known
And the sinful turn into holy

This was her choice
To be great and all that she could be
Everyone who heard her voice
Would rejoice and feel free

Her friends loved her much
Her husband and children did too
She seemed to have God's loving touch
Enough to make the world new

But this perfect little girl that once was
And all of her good has turned into distortion
She would've brought so many to God
If only her mother had not chosen abortion

Old Ebenezer's Sonnet
He was an unknown Ebenezer stone
A stone he was, gloriously still
Cold, dull, ready to be honed
A symbol of help, if not for the lack of will
Others have told him he was useless
Of which he had no answer to reply
Ignorant that he was overly blessed
He lived like he was not God's eternal ally
Until the truth was revealed that he was but a stone
Which lies within the Potter's hand
A brightly shining diamond meant for God's throne
A shimmering gem of hope, he stood grand
This old Ebenezer of Israel and Judea
Discovered paradise out of the denial of a single idea
After finding out the truth to why Charles Dickens named one of his most famous characters, Ebenezer, I was swept away by the story of the Ebenezer Stone found within the book of 1 Samuel in the Bible.  Going off of the many underlying meanings found within this story, this sonnet is a different portrayal of Mr. Scrooge and other men like him found within everyday life.

My Will
My will is to be shrouded by your love
A love, if not mistaken, as from above
Above, your origins undoubtedly so
And so at death shall again beckon to go
Go, I shall, to your waiting arms
And come, please come, to my aching heart
Heart, of which I have much for you
For you, my heart beats for two
Oh for you I wait patiently still
At the end of this aisle, this is my will

— The End —
