Never fall in love with a poet
for their words are sometimes lies
on occasions they're a shield
on occasions a disguise

They will take you on a journey
upon which they bare their soul
in a bid to ease your burdens
in a bid to make you whole

But in every word they choose
for the stories that they tell
lies a little piece of heaven
and a little piece of hell

Tormented souls we poets are
sometimes quite broken and despaired
in search of lost expressions
missed by others who once cared

Never fall in love with a poet
unless you're prepared to share their pain
to hold them close on the darkest nights
over and again

Don't tell me where to go.
Don't tell me who I am,
where I should be,
what part of my mind you think you can reach into and pluck strings at to make me work better, to fix all of this

I don't want to hear it.
Just because you scream, it doesn't mean I have to listen,
and just because you've stapled my eyelids open
it doesn't mean I have to look.

There is no him here to save you from me now
to wash my beating heart with blood coursing through our veins
I can hear that
I want to hear that.
But there is no him here to save you from me now
so I can yell until
your body hits the ground
and you will fall forever
and you won't make a sound.
I don't know.
