I often write about you
Creating an imaginary scene for us both
I know,call me sentimental
Or emotional,either really
But isn't this what they call dreaming?
Building clouds of invisible nines
Where you kiss me
And say "You know,I think I really like you."
Or the days we might grow old together
Sit by the porch
Listen to the music
You swore you would play for me
(I want to hold your hand)
I can already see
The letters you've written to me
Telling me of all the adventures
You want to go with me
Exploring every part of New York
Because that's the place we both love
And as I walked down the aisle
I know that every sadness I've ever felt about us
Would just drift off
As we say "I do."
Perhaps our first kiss
Would not be like the movies
We would be awkward
And laugh at ourselves
For thinking too much
Sometimes I would get paranoid
And try to keep you tighter by my side
But understand that
I only do that because I truly love you
The worst that could happen
In this dream
Is that we break up
And our hands touch for the last time
A goodbye peck on the cheek
"Stay friends okay?"
And we go in different directions
Becoming strangers again

They say we only fall in love
Once in our entire life
What if Love walks through those doors
And we fail to recognize?
What if we already lost that chance?
Flung it out the windows
Thinking Love was already by our side
The bliss ignorance
That Love can only come in the form of a husband
True but not quite
Maybe Love was all along there
Waiting for you to see
We can never quite see Love
Because we take Love like water
Easily granted
Steady flow of it always
But when we do see Love
It's always in our darkest moments
Our loneliest times
Then Love steps in
And that's when we can see it clearly
Who is Love

My lips parted to speak a few words

But I could not

Something in me choked up

Swallowed tears

I looked at the mirror

Hoping to find myself

But all I could see

Was the reflection of you

Because I had morphed

Into the likeness of you

Us breathing in the same air

Our forces never collided

Only connected

To form cells that held our DNA

We could never get

Enough of each other

Craving more

And more of each other’s

Skin and lips

So much so

That one day I felt

My lips turn dry without

Your kisses

You had turned into someone

New yet old

I couldn’t recognize this person

Whom I had once called “love”

Whispered “goodnight”

And cried “sorry”

He stared into my eyes

Once so tenderly

And all was left now

Was emptiness

Soulless

He was once my Camelot

But now it was crumbling walls and plasters

Things were never forgotten

Just put aside

Placed somewhere

Far and deep

Taken out only

When loneliness strikes

I see the pantomimes
In France, on the sidewalks
The frowns and the smiles
But all painted over by
Such pretentious acts
They put for all to see
Like our lives
We are no different
Just becoming strangers again
I once bluffed you
through lying teeth
Saying "I'm okay"
When I'm really not
Wasn't that like the pantomime
We saw circa 2001?
So much truth behind all the acts
To create this perfect lie
To make you believe
That maybe this could work
But when you walked off
Giving me no face
I could finally wipe off
All the thick heavy makeup
Of the lies I had created.

Perfect autumn day
The red leaves
And orange specks
Adam was only ten
Placing the apple carefully
On the top of his head
He stood underneath a tree
"Dont be scared,trust me."
His friend said
And picked up the bow and arrow
Adam squeezed his eyes
And then opened it again
He saw the arrow being pulled
And suddenly all he could see
Were the images of his sister
And the days he spent with his friend
Playing ball
Climbing the fences
The way his mother kissed him on the forehead
Her lavender smell wafting through the house
The report card he got just yesterday
How proud his father would be
Looking down from above
"1..."
How he never got to kiss Sadie
And dry her tears
"2..."
How in about 3 days his baby brother
Jordan would be born
"3."
And how in that last second
He saw himself next to his father
And gave one last smile
As the world was shut off
From the soulless eyes
The arrow struck
Straight in the middle of his forehead
Trusting too much kills one
