Indeed the most beautiful mother to all of her children. So many words to describe my mom. Sweet, kind, loveable, caring,a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie, counselor, and confidant, and the list goes on and on. Amongst all of that, she was so special;her contagious smile was pure as sunshine and bright as the stars in the universe. Her cheeks were as roses with eyes that shined thought out our hearts. No matter how others treated her, she always remained the sweetest woman to all. She will never be forgotten. She always knew what to say and when to say it. When you were say, she always found a way to put a smile on your face. When you needed prayer, advice, or just someone to talk to , you knew who to call. She took people into her arms and loved them as her own. Our mom was one of the best gifts God lent us for only a season. We were blessed with the gift of having sure a wonderful and loving mother which we shall be grateful thought out eternity.
Since gaining her wings some days ago, I have to realize that her spirit still dwells within. Shes watching over us all, so let's be careful in what she sees.
Her teaching and spiritual guidance, we shall never forget and will continue to protect all whom she loved.
We are forever grateful to her grooming us through the love of our savior. We have become God fearing women and man for which she was the perfect example in many ways. The magic in her touch, the sunshine in her smile, and the love I everything she did made our lives worthwhile. We found both hope and courage listening to her words so warm and wise. Her joyous laughter, her kindness and compassion in every embrace, there will never be another Betty Gosby!!
She was one of a kind, the light of heaven shown within her eyes to everyone that was graced by her presence.
I remember very well when she took me in at the age of 13, I was just a neighborhood kid, whom she had not met, i would come to AHOP just to listening to the choir sing and to hear her speak from the pulpit. I began to attend more than once a week gradually to almost every day, she began to witness to me, prayed for me and convinced me to join. I became involved in the choir, praise dancing, bible studies and the women to women outreach ministers. As an orphaned teenager, I was placed in the system. My case worker asked me if I knew someone who would have me.
Betty Gosby was of the three names I had chosen. No quite sure who would take me in, she came to the shelter, called my name and was standing in the hallway with a white teddy bear. I ran into her arms and cried, because she was really the one I wanted to accept me. I couldnt imagined someone would love me half as much as her.
She instilled in me how to stand up for myself, how to do better, and to let go of the past hurt.
With all that, the young woman I am Today will never forget all shes done for me in changing my life for the better. From this day forward, she will never be forgotten.
I love you mom, thank you for taking me and showing me there is more to life
