I can write these lines without
ever righting wrongs the same way
I write notes without writing songs.
I colored pictures, but I only used black and white without
seeing the beauty of the gray
between the lines.
And there's a certain majesty that is only caught
under moonlight, but that is nothing compared to the
photograph in your eyes.
It's the way my heart races without having a beat,
or the way I never seem to dream when I sleep.
Your name catches on every inhale I breathe,
your essence a place I never want to leave.
It's writing a love poem without
feeling that rhyme,
it's knowing you don't burn the same color
every time.
Bathe in the ashes from past poems,
believe that every word is your own.

Do not look at me and weep,
I am not an object you can keep.

I didn't cut myself to die,
I did it to survive.

People are not things people can fix.
They are beautifully designed projects,
To be individually selfish.

So I must ask you my dear,
My love,
Instead of weep
Just wait for me to sleep.

When you begin to wonder
wonder what it all means
that's when it'll get you down
you can't scratch the surface
of purpose

You stumble in the darkness
fumble for the nearest light switch
or anything
a table leg, a television stand
a tigers paw
anything to remind you
that something is there
flesh it out
dry as a bone or
drunk

Life was
and is
a series of letdowns
false starts, faulty brakes
expired milk, premature *******
flat tires, flat chests, flat soda
the world was flat
for awhile

As soon as you stop and think
about Sun, Moon, and Stars
that's when you realize
you're a matchhead
in forest fire
a drop of **** in the vastness of the ocean
nothing more, nothing less
nothing?

Maybe that's the point of it all
a dash of cosmic modesty
you never saw the ants complaining
or the flowers weep,
for very long

Just get out of bed
and put your t-shirt on
one leg at a time
You can burn the leaves down to ashes
Snap the branches and chop apart the wood
But until the root is extracted
It will all come back to flourish in due time

The winter sky has always brought me an irreplaceable sense of tangible wonder
Only this time,
it was the stringing of melted words that I had been left to ponder
Even as the night grew longer and I simultaneously ticked away with the earth,
the steady beauty portrayed by the daggers which orbited above me-
In the silence and chill
Awed my fear into extinction
