Its a hard moribund life, swirling
oxygenated reeds in the rivulet,
pause her venture.
Nil by mouth, she strives to untangle,
tapered free,
to the ravenous lands re-emerging,
searching for morsels of truth.
Nourishment wrenched
from out stretched hands.
Like broken briars, lost thorns
embed a crown
of despondent woe
It's nights like these
when I forget how to breathe,
and the sky goes
black.
Off--
in a day dream
my mind in the clouds...
like my coffee, with cream.
my thoughts are jagged,
twisted and upturned...
stirred, until... well blended,
and THEN-- served
Hot And Molten
Liquid and Golden.

We cling to the paper skin of the earth
because it may throw us off tomorrow.
Watch closely, Observe:

The grasping hands find one another,
fitting together like pieces of an old puzzle.

The gleam of a tear in the dark,
the arms of a father encircling his child;
these are the last whispers of an endangered race.

The earth may throw us off tomorrow
and dance in the sunlight on the next day.
Expect no pity, no compassion;

Even the tenderest kisses sear the skin.
what's real and true of all the stuff we learn
throughout each life is given extra sheen
by honest labour it will never burn

the deeper vision that permits a turn
towards an understanding of the seen
what's real and true of all the stuff we learn

both in and out of school is the concern
for honest dealing which becomes so keen
by honest labour it will never burn

our hands but lead us rather to discern
the better way by which to intervene
what's real and true of all the stuff we learn

reminds us of the need for what we earn
not just for us but those in the machine
by honest labour it will never burn

the ones who cry and those who only yearn
for what is not and what has never been
what's real and true of all the stuff we learn
by honest labour it will never burn
