Molecular Patterns
Simon F May 2012
A scintillating ocean.
Refracting light across the spectrum,
colours beyond white, black, and red;
Mirror to the universal spirits.

Crystalline forms growing
like families of fungi across the horizon.
A mycological configuration
of salts and waveform reflectors.

A frisson of diamonds.
Seizures of globular light, elliptical rainbows.
Twice-reflected hollow moonbeams.
Creating.

Cubes in the molecular structure,
Silent carbon and quartz,
as from some distant caverns
unseen by any eye.

Metsä Alastomuutta

when your limbs turn to night and bark, sticks against your feet.
the centipede kingdom embraces you to its breast,
a lost patch of moss who found its way back, cleansed of lies
plunge into the quiet abyss of mire and toadstool,
leave humanity behind at the edge of the woods
roots growing through the ground and into your body
forest, take me home.

A thousand waterfalls, or more,
towering layers, feeding one another.
Turbid and deep in the ancient slough.
Across a soak of violet moss,
an algae rinse surveying silent
the ardor of springtime blossom.

Fuschia kelp hewn from amethyst;
the lilacs died and their graves grew moss.
With these sugilite sculptures, the falls were imbrued,
and soon were given unto the same cerise hue.

These tiered creeks, so like a staircase, fell in love
with the bryphophite wash.

And like a pond filled with plums,
the lake birthed from the falls
proved to be dyed the most purple of all.

Kuutamo

Silver mirror of our Earth and Sun,
I rise to meet you tonight.
Across turquoise and sea-green clouds
and through a pale mist shining.

Occulting the dawn and inventing a new day,
a sunrise in the night,
Gently piercing the curtains of rain
The quiet observer, silver-white.

You are the glimmering widow
Spinning twilit cobwebs
along the meadows of perse dusk.

You rose from the ocean
Brine cascading down your face
And a sea-salt storm came to be.

You are that which defines the day
and you create the night,
embracing the Earth, and giving meaning to life.
