Leave Me Alone
Simon Clark Aug 2012
(Song title from Michael Jacksons’ catalogue, by Michael Jackson)

Those voices inside my mind still talk,
They say the things I try not to believe,
But it’s harder to fight them off,
I no longer have the power,
The bottle, the needle, the powder,
So they never leave me alone,
Invade my safety,
And chill me - thin to the bone.

Friday
Simon Clark Aug 2012
(Friday's child is loving and giving.)

I was given the gift of another day,
I can breathe deeply,
And smile to the sun of a Friday morn,
I feel like a child; I'm lucky i'm alive,
I feel blessed to have been born.

The weekend is approaching,
The stress of the week is unfolding,
My head starts to lighten,
And my shoulders loosen,
I'm happy,
I'm free.

Rest In Peace
Simon Clark Aug 2012
You suffered,
You struggled,
Your life was cruel and hard,
You were tortured,
You were tormented,
Your life was short and fast.

Now we comfort ourselves,
We say only what we can,
Rest in peace,
Peacefully slumber,
Rest in peace,
R.I.P….
R.I.P….
R.I.P.…

What Is This Feeling?
Simon Clark Aug 2012
(Song title from “Wicked” by Stephen Schwartz)

I looked at him from across the room,
His eyes smiled,
A spark of tenderness hiding the gloom,
Number dialled.

Never felt such a feeling as this,
Scared by my mind,
What is this feeling of utter bliss?
True hearts are blind.

She Lights Up A Joint
Simon Clark Aug 2012
She lights up a joint as the room goes cold,
Free from distress her mind can unfold,
Lay back into sleep and dream her sweet dreams,
For without her release her nightmares redeem,
They forgive and forget and tell her to smile,
But trapped inside her mind are grief and denial,
Loving herself is harder than hell,
But she puts on a show so it's harder to tell,
But i read the truth that dwells in her eyes,
She lights up a joint free from all ties.

Clinging To A Thread
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Clinging to a thread of hope,
When the mirror cracked to shards,
And the broken branch on which I lean,
Has fallen to the lake,
Where muddy waters cover my view,
I'm lost,
Missing without a clue.

Death
Simon Clark Aug 2012
A simple word,
One syllable,
Less than a second to say,
Maybe a second to type it,
But a lifetime of questions,
A lifetime of tears,
Several moments of anguish,
Several years of intrusive emotion,
Of counting the beats between each breath,
Such a throwaway word with heavy weights: death.

Peace and love,

Sweet,
Kind,
Heart and soul,
Hold,
Warmth,
I am whole.

I love you.

Gather,

Extra, extra,

Hear the news,
Let's print before we let them grieve.

Ticking Away
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Like a teacher marking a register,
Ticking away,
Like the devil taking life,
Ticking away,
Like a soldier praying for peace,
Ticking away,
Away, ticking away.

I look at paintings on the walls,
Some big and some small,
Each tells a story of light and dark,
Each tells the story of a type of heart,
Be it broken,
Be it fixed,
Be it mending,
Be it in bits,
I look at paintings on the walls,
Some bright and some dull,
Each tells a story of life and death,
Each tells the story of their own journey,
Be it bumpy,
Be it slick,
Be it punishing,
Be it in bliss,
I look at paintings on the wall,
But still i can't see,
Where is the one that stares back at me?

Forgive my sins when I die,
Let me rest in peace,

Found safety in all I did,
Forgive my sins when I die,
Let me sleep in calm,
I always lived with my soul,
Found safety from all my harm.

Tears Of Passion
Simon Clark Aug 2012
A friend made me cry tears of passion,
Tears of love,
A friend made me pray to the heavens,
And believe in life above,
She took me to her bedroom,
She took me to the floor,
She took me to a special place,
I'd never been there before,
I kissed her body from head to toe,
I kissed back up again,
She swallowed all i had to give,
She enjoyed the intense heat then,
I ate her body,
I made her ***,
I ate her sweetness,
I made her run through my fingertips,
Covering every inch of me,
I'll kiss her in the morning,
She wake to the naked sight of me.

The Lady In My Life
Simon Clark Aug 2012
(Song title from Michael Jacksons’ catalogue, by R. Temperton)

Eyes like deep pools of summer,
Lips the colour of red roses,
Skin like porcelain perfection,
Body that dreams are made on,
She’s the lady in my life,
Fantasy,
Safety from pain and strife.

The Grave
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Lay flowers at the grave,
Where bones and dirt entwine,
No soul,
No life,
Nothing there but decay.

A place for me to cry,
Sit silent with my thoughts,
Ceaseless,
Pointless,
Alone with memories.

Wonder if you miss me,
As i rest below the tree,
Alone,
Afraid,
Empty as this bottle.

Shiny paper and masses of ribbons,
Perfectly wrapped and lovingly given,
A sign of how much we love each other,

Time Moves On
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Time moves on,
Time moves by,
And time moves on,
In the blink of an eye.

No warning,
No alert,
And no signal,
Time moves on; still i hurt.

The clock stops,
The clock haults,
But time moves on,
And time shows me my faults.

Time moves on,
Time moves by,
And time moves on,
In the blink of an eye.

Time moves on,
On and on.

Death Of A Star
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I often imagine that those I lose are up there,
Decorating the night sky,
Each a twinkling star,
A burst of fragrant light,
But still I know that eternity is rare,
Cause even stars have a lifeline,
This never seems to be fair,
To give up your world in mortal form,
To leave these lands and be reborn,
As a twinkling star,
But not be seen for you’ve travelled too far.

Reflected Soldier
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I saw a soldier crying,
As i looked into the mirror,
Brave,
Proud,
Lost and cold.

An image of reflection,
Fighting battles the world can't see,
Scared,
Scarred,
Hurt and bold.

Tears falling from his cheekbones,
Pride gives way to the weight of pain,
Seen,
Been,
Heard and told.

Remember us,
...And we went.

Beyond the dream is a place,
A land of gold,
A world of imagination,
Created beyond a dreamers conscious.

Beyond the dream I am gone,
I'm gone today,
To go to invention,
And become a castle of photos - smiling faces.

Beyond the drum,
Beyond the harp,
Beyond the lonely whistle,
Beyond the dream,
Beyond the thought,
Beyond the frightened nightmare.

Fallen Off My Feet
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Giving it all up to you,
Was easy,
Taking it all back inside,
Is so hard to do.

More distance and space,
Created a void,
I'm missing your face,
Feeling so destroyed.

Giving my love to your heart,
Was easy,
Taking it back for your mind,
Is so hard to start.

Less touching and heat,
Created a pain,
Fallen off my feet,
Crying in the rain.

A Parents' Grief
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Looking into numb eyes,
Lifeless eyes of youth,
It’s wrong,

Unimaginable pain,
Like shards of glass as falling rain,
Cutting deeper,
Cutting pieces away,
No parent should feel this way,
But fragments of their beating heart,
Just slowly trickle away.

Is anyone else tired of saying goodbye?

Is anyone else tired of saying goodbye?

Understand more,

Rather see the sunshine,
Than be a corpse and rotten.

Is anyone else tired of saying goodbye?

Is anyone else tired of saying goodbye?

I need you to give in to me sometimes,
I need to win the day from time to time,

Same old song.

I need you to give in to me sometimes,

Just can’t mend.

And am greeted by such a sight,

Basking in sacred light.

A smattering of unplanned dots,

Standing still in the same spot,
With a flowing, graceful glimmer.

I look up to the darkness,
And am swallowed by the abyss,
Magic vision of starlight,
Never felt quite like this.

Don't you see that I need you?

A passionate grip that I can understand,

Trusting soul and open heart,
An enduring love that will never dare part.

Breaking under the raging tears my blood starts to seethe,

Writing My Life Away
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Hours, days and weeks,
Maybe even years,
Of writing down my joy and pain,
My ecstasy and tears,
Far too long have I grown so distanced,
An outsider looking for the next phrase,
Wanting to be accepted,
But denied the magic of praise.

Still I sit and write,
Words that I concoct,
Things that I never dare to share,
That, in my heart, stay locked,
Those utterances and emotions,
They’re never heard even when I pray,
Yet still I take this journey,
Roads of writing my life away.

Songs, lyrics, poetry,
Prose, sonnets and plays,
Just watch me try,
Endeavour to write my life away.

My eyes are red from weeping,
And my skin has wrinkled under the strain,
Of stopping teardrops from taking their deadly fall,
From the cheek to the muddy ground beneath,
Where i place this wreath,
With colours that sing of you when i see them,
Green for the emerald in your eyes,
Pink for the tender lips i pressed to mine,
Yellow for the dress that you wore when first we danced,
And red for the warmth in your smile when we took that chance.

Come And See It Now
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I DEDICATE THIS POEM TO ALL VICTIMS OF ALL THE WARS AROUND THE WORLD

Have you seen the stain that the tear left upon his cheek?
It's crimson like the blood his father bled,
And the tear will keep on falling like the agony in his head.

Have you heard the cry from the mouth of a girl in pain?
It's as shrill as the screams of dying men,
And the cry will keep on coming like all the soldiers from their den.

Have you felt the chill upon a new born baby's skin?
It's frozen like the memory of sin,
And the chill will remain forever like the marks of where we've been.

Have you smelt the dying flower that danced on the grain?
It's rotten like the marching off to war,
And the smell will remain forever in the marrow of my core.

Have you tasted raindrops falling on the young boys grave?
It's sour like the meaning of the cause,
And the taste will last eternally shadowed by shallow applause.

So come and see the death we taste,
So come and see it now,
So come and see the life we take,
So come and see it now.

Journey Of A Lifetime

(Song title from “Aspects of Love” by Lloyd Webber, Black and Hart)

I’ve been on a journey of a lifetime with her,
She held my hand and I gripped hers,
My lips caressed her neck as with daylight she began to stir.

I’ve been on a journey of a lifetime with her,
She touched my *** and I loved hers,
I never now want to return to the way that things once were.
