Easter Cometh
Simon Clark Aug 2012
A chocolate oval treat,
An egg with sweets inside,
To clebebrate the rolling stone,
That allowed Jesus to rise.

Easter cometh,
Easter praise,
Easter cometh,
Easter stays.

New Year Trail
Simon Clark Aug 2012
With ever passing year,
I aim to reach the stars,
To be like many of my thoughts,
Shooting around planet Mars.

This year i want to be,
Not only try and fail,
I want to find the key to life,
As I'm on the New Year trail.

Should They?
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Should an old acquaintance be forgot?
Should they disappear?
Should they be forgotten until you hold them near?

Should an old acquaintance be forgot?
Should they move along?
Should they be forgotten until you hear that song?

In The Mood
Simon Clark Aug 2012
In the mood to have a drink,
A glass of champagne,
Watch Big Ben count down the time,
Until the New Year enters in,
Party Poppers popping proudly,
Magic music motoring,
In the mood to have a dance,
A dance to enchant,
Watch the fireworks explode,
The clock meets the midnight hour,
Party Poppers popping proudly,
Magic music motoring.

At The Party
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I take her hand,
And take her to the floor,
Kiss her lips and hold her breath,
Hold her closer than ever before,
A New Year to welcome,
A New Year to entertain,
A new time for us to move closer,
High on you - no need for *******.

You stroke my neck,
And stroke my soul and core,
Lead me to the edge of life,
Lead me to your passion to explore,
A New Year has begun,
A New Year has unfolded,
A new time for us to reach the heart,
As one our bodies have molded.

Welcome
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Welcome to the new year,
A time for fun and laughter,
A time for friends and family,
Forget the ever-after,
Live for the here and now,
And forget the distant day,
Enjoy the festivities,
Take yourself outside and play.

Ninety-Two
Simon Clark Aug 2012
He turned ninety-two,
And danced the night away,
Inside his mind,
What does he find?
Memories of kind,
From his first ever yearly celebration,
To his eighteenth filled with motivation,
Now hes ninety-two,
Comfortable in his skin,
Another party over,
Next year a new one can begin.

Endless Glee
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Candles on a child's cake,
Flickering like the ripples on a frozen lake,
See his smile,
His endless glee,
He'll age too fast,
He'll yearn to be free,
But this day you can play,
Take him in your arms,
Celebrate his 2nd,
His 9th,
His warmth.

A Year Older

A year older today,
Another new beginning,
Start my life from this moment,
Open the presents,
One from Dad,
One from Mum,
Feeling happy,
Never glum.

Delicate Sound

Loved ones coming 'round,

Aiming For The Sky
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I'm blowing up the balloons,
And flying the banners high,
Ready for the party,
Aiming for the sky,
I turned twenty-one,
And was ready for the world,
I took her in my arms,
Spun her round; we twirled.

Just Us Three
Simon Clark Aug 2012
He held me,
So did she,
We made love,
Just us three.

Like soldiers on display,
Were watched as we played,
Tucked up tight,
Positions seen in clay.

He held me,
So did she,
We made love,
Just us three.

Your Palace
Simon Clark Aug 2012
My heart is aflame,
It beats out your name,
In the dark I hear it calling,
I ask you to love me,
And you take my hand in yours,
And draw me to the doors,
You lead me to your palace and make love to me at night,
We travel through the planets, exploring unique sights.

And baby it was made,
Then to heaven you went,
And took my baby to the grave,
I miss you both though only one I knew,
I cry inside but my love for you remains true.

Undress
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Undress,
Remove the bracelet,
The necklace that frames your smiling face,
Release the ribbon from your hair,
Take away the earrings,
And the make-up that hides your flair.

Make your way to my room,
And destroy the agony and gloom,
Touch my hand and stroke my arm,
Hold you close and banish any harm.

Undress,
Remove the worries,
The terrors that chain your throbbing heart,
Release the passion in your core,
Take away the pretence,
And then I'll take you to the floor.

You Covered Me
Simon Clark Aug 2012
You covered me with the tenderness that flowed from your soul,
1 gentle stroke and warm embrace,
I was ready to begin the pace,
No race,
Take it slow,
Never go,
Sleep in bliss,
Nightly thrill,
Drill,
Drill,
Feel and hold,
Be and unfold,
Open wide,
I'm inside,
Woman of life,
Creating life,
You covered me with the gentleness that dripped from your bowl.

Every inch of me is breathing your name,
Kiss my body.

She Lights Up A Joint
Simon Clark Aug 2012
She lights up a joint as the room goes cold,
Free from distress her mind can unfold,
Lay back into sleep and dream her sweet dreams,
For without her release her nightmares redeem,
They forgive and forget and tell her to smile,
But trapped inside her mind are grief and denial,
Loving herself is harder than hell,
But she puts on a show so it's harder to tell,
But i read the truth that dwells in her eyes,
She lights up a joint free from all ties.

My Angel
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Memories etched through the veins of my soul,
I picture your face, our dreams and goals,
You were my angel when here on earth,
But now you are gone i appreciate your worth,
Up in heaven a true angel has been made,
But deep into a pillow my sorrows have played,
I lived my daily life from hour to hour,
But i lay at your grave a dull scented flower,
A rose with such beauty that compares to your own,
Thanks for the memories, my angel that's flown.

Jesus Won't Find Me
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I won't let Jesus find me,
I'll hide beneath the rocks,
The Devil he can bite me,
I'll ride astride the flames,
No heaven can define me,
I'll stand up to the God's,
No underworld can steal me,
I'll land upon my feet.

Jesus won't hold me,
Won't let him love,
Jesus won't find me,
Not from above.

See Me Through
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Through wind and water,
Ice as cold as hell,
Over lakes and mountains,
I cast my mystic spell,
Hear it echo,
Hear it ring,
Hear it bellow,
Hear it sing.

Through mud and gravel,
Rocks as soft as nails,
Over fields and valleys,
I walk although I'm frail,
See me walking,
See me move,
See me trudging,
See me through.

Leave Me In A Corner
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Draw the curtains,
Hold out the sun,
Leave me in a corner,
To live my shallow days.

Can't bear the sun,
Shut me away,
Guard me from the fire,
Don't leave me to the flames.

Take me from the eyes,
The evil, staring eyes,
Close me in a dark, cold room,
Where in a corner i may dwell,
Away from the judgment,
Away from the blame,
Inside this old cupboard,
Inside my own fame.

Turn down the lights,
Switch on the rain,
Throw me to the demons,
Let them punish my soul.

Your Castle
Simon Clark Aug 2012
You came to me on an autumn day,
When the leaves browned under foot,
Found me at my weakest,
Mourning every morning, noon and night,
Took me to your castle,
You held my innocence tight.

Frosted rainbow high upon the clouds,
Static above your castle,
You rain inspiration,
Sweet darling you bring me to the light,
As darkness stole my world,
I am humbled in your sight.

Tonight
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Send me to sleep by singing,
Put dreams in my head,
Cast nightmares away,
Keep them at arms length,
Keep them from me,
Don't let them see,
Please let me be.

Fed up of spinning around,
In need of a rest,
Hide the spiders' web,
Keep at a distance,
Keep out of sight,
Don't let them bite,
Please give me tonight,
Give me,
Show me tonight.

A game we play,
Without much thought,
Keeping in touch.

Kiss,

Please kiss me,

Touch,
Please love me,

One Of Those Moments
Simon Clark Aug 2012
One of those moments,
The world seems brand new,
The glistening night sky dances 'til morn,
Feeling reborn,
Cloaked in darkness,
A net of darkness,
A safety net into which i fall.

Diving out of fear,
Leave pain in the past,
The far off cry of a dove does beckon,
Sense it beckon,
Encircles me,
It's surrounding me,
Protecting me from my cracking shell.

Travelling Man
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Been flying with my travel bag,
Loaded,
Crammed and packed,
Taken me to many places,
None that take me back.

Been on the road for many years,
Moving,
Rushed and shoved,
Travelled to far too many towns,
None that brought me love.

Seen a number of pretty sights,
Rivers,
Wide and long,
Aboard a ship, a plane, a train,
None have kept me strong.

The Grave
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Lay flowers at the grave,
Where bones and dirt entwine,
No soul,
No life,
Nothing there but decay.

A place for me to cry,
Sit silent with my thoughts,
Ceaseless,
Pointless,
Alone with memories.

Wonder if you miss me,
As i rest below the tree,
Alone,
Afraid,
Empty as this bottle.

Time Moves On
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Time moves on,
Time moves by,
And time moves on,
In the blink of an eye.

No warning,
No alert,
And no signal,
Time moves on; still i hurt.

The clock stops,
The clock haults,
But time moves on,
And time shows me my faults.

Time moves on,
Time moves by,
And time moves on,
In the blink of an eye.

Time moves on,
On and on.

Orchid Of The Orient
Simon Clark Aug 2012
An orchid stood tall in the window,
Looking out at the yard,
Where the dragon chases the pearl,
Aflame and brightly burning,
Make the orients' subtlety seem hard.

Ladies pass the house,
Pause to observe,
The smile on the orchids petal,
Waiting, like they, to serve,
Hoping not to lose its sunlight,
Not to break its nerve.

Bow down before the ancient scriptures,
The stories that they told,
Of magic wands and spinning wheels,
And of the sacred flower,
The orchid of the orient; unfold.

Broken
Simon Clark Aug 2012
The crucifix is broken,
My bible is in flames,
I lit the candle,
I banned my prayers,
The skies are make-believe.

My epitaph reads 'broken',
The stars all burst to shame,
I destroy the hymn,
Forced God to shy,
The heavens won't receive.

Bread of flesh,
Wine of blood,
A stolen gospel,
A broken chalice,
The altar bows down before me,
A priest dies,
A diciple cries,
Leaving me broken,
Just broken.

Reflected Soldier
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I saw a soldier crying,
As i looked into the mirror,
Brave,
Proud,
Lost and cold.

An image of reflection,
Fighting battles the world can't see,
Scared,
Scarred,
Hurt and bold.

Tears falling from his cheekbones,
Pride gives way to the weight of pain,
Seen,
Been,
Heard and told.

16:16, 09-08, '84
Simon Clark Aug 2012
16:16,
The moment i was born,
16:16,
Now i am forlorn,
16:16,
The time that hell was born.

09-08,
The day that i appeared,
09-08,
Now i drown in fears,
09-08,
The date that no one hears.

It's '84,
The year creation came,
It's '84,
Now i am to blame,
It's '84,
You gave invention names.

(Just in case you hadn't noticed - i was born on the 9th August 1984 at 16:16p.m.)

Historical Tapestry
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I've written my history,
Seasons of my life,
An ever-growing tapestry,
I weave it day and night,
I choose my colours carefully,
And learn what they mean,
Attacking rhyme and reason,
Sewn beneath the fabric,
Stitched in every seam.

I've painted my history,
Patterns of my time,
An ever-changing tapestry,
I weave it in clean lines,
I plan my route out perfectly,
Still i run amuck,
Searching for a place to hide,
To keep my secrets safe,
Keep my feelings locked.

Sorrow

Sorrow,
Still tomorrow,
Unless I die,
Must get high,

Pills I'm slipped.

Something to borrow,
To make me smile,
For a brief while,
Feel like trash,
They paid ME cash.

Sorrow,
Sorrow,
Please take tomorrow.

Never Looking Up
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I sat on my piano stool,
Strumming my guitar,
I've composed hundreds of songs,
But none that took me far.

Notes just beyond my reach,
Still poured from my heart,
Upon the manuscript paper,
My words tearing me apart.

When i sing myself to sleep,
After draining my coffee cup,
I dream of sinking down to hell,
And never looking up.

Upon My Fingertips
Simon Clark Aug 2012
A butterfly crept to sleep upon my fingertips,
Its tiny eyes,
Its open mind,
Drifting miles beyond this Earth.

I walked for days,
I slaved through my chores,
But still it slept,
Beauty and desire,
The flightless butterfly upon my fingertips.

The strain of holding my pose was a hard weight to bear,
But daily it got lighter as heaven slowly took him home.

A butterfly fell to death upon my fingertips,
Its lifeless wings,
The song it sings,
Reincarnation - an angel.

I miss the feel of love,
Upon my fingertips.

Washed Away
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Segments of my life,
Washed away,
Memories sent down the river,
To wait endlessly,
In a missing bay.

*

I searched and i found,
Soft amour,
The pieces of my heart and soul,
The sun shining down,
On this tyrant shore.

My tears were falling,
Formed puddles,
Made a sea of desolation,
I swam that ocean,
Spinning and muddled.

I heard my voices,
Days gone by,
I remembered them like always,
Sound of the playground,
I can only try.

Thin Veil Of Ice
Simon Clark Aug 2012
A thin veil of ice covers the face of the girl with diamonds in her eyes,
An irrepressible sparkle that, like wind blown dreams, never dies,
Yet every now and then on a warm, endangered summers day,
A blossom would drop down from a branch and, like time, trickle her way,
If she was lucky, and that day she was, the blossom would fall to the palm of her hand.

I met her once as, down Carnaby Street, i walked,
She tripped to my arms, i saved her, we talked,
We strolled the gardens of Regency Park,
I sat her beside me on a bench, we spoke until dark,
I placed her hand in mine and through the thin veil of ice she whispered 'I understand'.

Together.

Still In Love
Simon Clark Aug 2012
More than two years have flown away,
Since the day you were raised to become a star,
To float among the heavens, to find your way,
I am always with you though you've travelled far,
The only thing i beg is that in my heart you'll stay,
Though your body is time from home I'll know where you are.

I'm still in love with you for all the world you shared,
I'm sorry that your hand wasn't held as you faded down,
The only thing you need to know is that nobody else compares,
I'll always be your lover, i'll always be your clown,
Please rest for ever in peace and take me if you care,
You'll live forever in my memory, my face a constant frown.

Reality TV
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Is anybody else confused?
The reality television craze,
I hope it is a phase,
But detest it as i do,
I am hooked like a fish on a rod.

Big Brother and Pop Idol,
Celebrity Fit Club and Fame Academy,
Enough already,
No more do i need,
But take it away and i'm sure you'd hear me plead,
'More, more, more' i'd say,
Reality TV is hard to love but harder to hate.

Is anybody else bemused?
The reality television shows,
I hope that soon they go,
But as angered as i am,
I am fixed like a stare on a grave.

A Grown-Up
Simon Clark Aug 2012
What is a grown-up?
Can anybody tell?
I know a thousand words
And can cast a million spells,
My father loses sense,
And his potions are often wrong,
What is a grown-up?
Can anybody tell?

You see the grown-up when with youthful eyes,
As someone strong,
Never do wrong,
And always standing tall,
I see the grown-up now with damaged sight,
As someone weak,
An evil streak,
And always crushing dreams.

What is a grown up?
Can anybody tell?
I know a thousand tales,
And can see a million souls,
My mother loses plots,
And her vision is often blind,
What is a grown-up?
Can anybody tell?

He Saw The Sights
Simon Clark Aug 2012
Some time ago a soldier i did meet,
Glory and victory, history at his feet,
Ready for action - marching for his queen,
Prepared and determined - his ambition obscene,
Standing tall and proud, unafraid of death,
Now i see the soldier and nothing much is left.

His mind has been shattered,
His world has been smashed,
His heart has been sold,
His soul has been soiled,
His pride has been stolen.

He saw the sights that nobody should see,
His eyes are frightened and close to try and be free,
But his mind holds tight to the memories,
Of being sent to die just for their jealousies,
the leaders never stand on the front line,
He'll keep the blood on his hands to show as a sign.

His mind has been destroyed,
His world has been drowned,
His heart has been dumped,
His soul has been dampened,
His pride has been darkened.

He saw the sights that nobody should see,
Maybe in death his anguish will just let him be.

I Had A Cup Of Tea
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I had a cup of tea this morning,
But the taste was slightly strange,
It could have been the toothpaste,
Or still the flavour of that orange.

I had a cup of tea this evening,
And the taste was really strong,
I should have used some more milk,
Or not left the bag in for that long.

I had a cup of tea once again,
To see if cup three improved,
It seems i should drink coffee,
Or just stay in bed and never move.

Deep Into Your Eyes
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I lay myself upon you,
I pray the moment lasts,
As deep into your eyes i stare,
And stroke the hair from your face,
My lips embrace the touch of yours,
And my breath is stolen by bliss.

The kiss of a moment for eternity,
As your neck and back i devour,
You pull me closer with your scent,
And take me to the edge of ecstasy,
I take your hand in mine,
Your fingertips i caress with gentleness.

I indulge my desire flesh to flesh,
As you indulge yours in the heat of the night,
A candle shines upon your naked breast,
Intensity and magic - you feel like an Empress,
To you my heart, body, soul and life i give,
If for one night your trust you unleash.

The Playground
Simon Clark Aug 2012
I miss the playground as it used to be,
Laughter, fun and frivolity,
Sliding down and spinning 'round,
Chasing the breeze and winning the race,
Hope was written on my face.

I see the playground as i wish it were,
Children playing and running free,
Climbing the trees and smiling,
Collecting the conkers and the dreams,
It's not how it once did seem.

I'm in the playground with my adult eyes,
Dealers, knives and the addiction,
Crashing down and going mad,
With legs of lead and vision so blurred,
If i had screamed...no one heard.

I'm in the playground with my fear and hate,
Shooting up and going under,
Paying but the money's gone,
Needing to slide when i'm feeling high,
I have kissed my past goodbye.
