I no longer seek romance
For it has brought me nothing but pain
So now, I just seek someone to have fun with
As we descend to the downward spiral
That awaits us all
For life is short
And love is fleeting

We should not be fighting
Yet here we are
In an arena surrounded by flames
You raise your sword in anger
Assuming the worst intentions from me
Asserting that I must be destroyed
To ensure your survival
But we are not enemies
We are two unique patterns on a diverse tapestry
Fight not against me, but alongside me
Against the true monsters of the world
For we are all struggling together

I see him in the distance,
My shining white knight.
He didn’t break every barrier,
But he always tried.
He always kept moving,
For he knew there was no true safe path,
When you stood still it crumbled under your feet.

I look at the man in front of me;
A Fool, Myself devolved.
A man who has learned how to endure,
But has forgotten how to survive.
I look once more at the man in the distance,
For I know I want him back.

Pillow

In my dreams, she is my pillow,
she lays supine on a couch
my head resting on her bare lap
as she holds me, tells me all the new memories we can make together

Wide awake, I have only recently told her how I feel about her. She says she needs time.
So I wait
All the while hoping the dream becomes reality

There were six of us once
Now only I remain

"The drinks are on me," I said
"When we reach Valhalla"

My blade brothers fell
One by one in glorious battle
Yet Death would not take me

Now, too old to fight
I drink alone
Longing for one last battle
Inspired by the TV series "Vikings"

I once carried a star beneath my wings
But she burned too brightly and faded too quickly
Without her, my wings fail me, and I fall to Earth
I bury myself amongst the rocks, waiting for the waves to break
A new voice calls to me, bringing me back to life
And I fly out to the stars once again
