Influence
Sierra C Raines Apr 2014
A raindrop
into the ocean
or a puddle
does not know the difference

Just as
a mind
in a genius
or a lunatic
does not know the difference

Both cases
are the same
only one is more influential
than the other

But the raindrop
nor the mind
can tell the difference

Just One
Sierra C Raines Aug 2012
One second; a look; a feeling
One moment; a thought; a touch
One minute; a kiss; an embrace
One hour; a nap; a meal
One month; an escalation; an idea
One lifetime; a love; a commitment

Moments in time
Sierra C Raines Jun 2012
Her eyes, always watching
Those green-grey giveaways
She looks up as you walk by
A few seconds is all it takes
To see her life, to see her pain
She smiles, pretending it isn’t real
But she knows that you know
Her smile fades
But her gaze remains
Only a moment longer
Until she looks away
Captivated by the rain
Cascading down the window pane

Honestly?
Sierra C Raines Jun 2012
You let me go, so I’m gone.
You let me fall, so I’m done.
You let me hurt, so I’m stunned;
You want me back? You think I’m the one?

The Ways of Life
Sierra C Raines Jul 2011
The seasons change
The clouds pass by
The birds move on
A flower dies

The ways of life
Aren’t so complex
Just slow down
And take a breath

The rivers freeze
And thaw again
A baby is born
You lose a friend

But the ways of life
Aren’t so complex
If you just slow down
To take a breath

The working class
Moves up a notch
While those up high
Check their watch

You make life
So complex
When you don’t slow down
And take a breath

My Secret
Sierra C Raines Jul 2011
A day to think,
That’s all I need.
These thoughts of mine,
Must be freed.
I can’t tell you,
It’s my information.
Your reaction,
Simply exclamation.
To go back,
To how life was.
It doesn’t help,
It never does.
I’ve made my choice,
It’s all on me.
Would you just stop talking,
And let me be?
I’m not going to tell you,
It’s my secret.
It not that I don’t trust you,
You just can’t keep it.
I don't usually rhyme my poems. This is one of the ones that happen to by rhymed though.
