Sharmaine Angeli Feb 2014
You were orange, yet you reflected my light.
When there was no sun, you turned me into one
My bright smile, almost as permanent as yours
Inspired the both of us.

I took you to the park.
You helped me steal the rays of the sun
And hide them in my pocket.
We never told anyone about our secret.

We continued to search.
Shadows grew taller and the light mellowed
But that was never a problem
When you had me bursting with energy
That you could hardly wait to reflect unto the world.

But tonight, my aura began to dull along with the sky.
Weaker and weaker the more I searched for ways to reverse it.
The rays in my pocket should have helped,
But they weren't working.

Why did they stop working, Oliver?
Silence.
Oliver?
Silence.

My source of light is nowhere to be found.
He is gone, and I have been stripped
Of my brilliance,
Only to be as dull
As everyone around me.

Illuminating embers of the sun
Weave into the darkness of twilight,
Awakening a new realm.
Intertwined branches
Are mere shadows of our hands
That I raise above us to touch the fading clouds.
Wind’s curiosity is my lips upon your figure.
My goosebumps are thorns against your satin skin.
Your hot breath chases away
The crisp air from the earth of my
body.
Reality a blur; our surroundings as forgotten
as the kiss stains of my neck.
Head drops back, mouth drops open.
Intentions as clear as the stars above,
We hush the midnight silence.
