Digression from stars, digression from home
Once near and now far
Rain has impregnated soil with smell of distance
Once I drowned in your eyes
Nevermore…

Children on the road, game rings through the sky
Once love, now not even hate
Sun warmed asphalt of desert cities
Once I was beginner, now I’m loser
Nevermore…

Love in dog’s eye, divine unconditionality
Once existence and now nothing
Wind carried in waves of sorrow
Once I believed in dreams
Nevermore…
I saw her crying in the window
It is none of my business to ask why
I guess it is the reason you are here
Drinking your sorrows at this bar, my friend

I've known you both for so many years now
Neither of you have ever had a cross word
You are the heart and soul of what is love
Drinking to hope it goes away never works

I'm guessing all that pressure at work you have
It is getting you and it is dragging you down
But as a man, you believe you have to carry that burden
To never share it with her to cause her to worry

Dry those tears that are starting to fall, my friend
You know she will forgive you, go and talk to her
You married through good and bad, share it now
She is the one keeping you strong, be strong for her

Remember that she loves you, she always will
You love her for she is your World, my friend
Remember that she loves you, her heart is yours
Go home to her, hold and kiss away the tears she cries

The smell of coffee and black sharpie fill your senses
Dragging yourself out of bed, you wrap the sheet around your naked body
Your head hurts more with every movement, every thought.

The sticky note on the door
written in small, squished, boy-like writing
"I never promised you forever."
On a Night Like Tonight
When the body grows too weary
to hold up the emotional walls
the demons attack
memories best laid to rest
awaken with a vengeance
sent to destroy my soul

The past I cannot escape
yet I have closed myself off
I will not share this burden
the fear of reject is far too great
the fear of letting someone in
to help me heal, to help me grow
is not enough
to open the door
that leads to the darkest room
no light shines in
the blackest of blacks
a tiny piece of my soul
charred
the flame can not be reversed
the fire that consumed me
burning me alive
the unnatural need
fed by the wolves
raised by the bears

i see the moon rising
it brings out the worst in me
dawn will not break
in my apocalypse

the storm clouds gather
to weak to stop it coming
my walls have fallen
and tonight
begins again
with the all or nothing fight

haunting
hunting
killing the happiness that grows
the lies so deep
they becomes truths
for the truths are too obscene
too far from reality
they are not truths
for truths are told
they are secrets
locked deep down inside
the kind that follow
always in the shadows
we take them to the grave
which is always too shallow

and those we let in
are the trust few
the trusted one
years of refusal
to finally let it out
the weight was lessened
if only for a time
for now he is gone
and my secret remains
my deepest battle scar
that brings out my worst
the world full of hurt
as the demons take control

I should have know better
but in youth
what do we really know
a trust so deep
the lies never showed
a wrong painted as right
a tiny soul was tainted
a tiny heart was broken
as a different side emerges
the trauma never fades
even in time
it lurks under the surface
waiting
for a night like tonight
Dark rain falls tonight

On a skin, cold as ice

Giving a chill to embrace

Shrunken eyes hide from light

With only the dead to entice

Forgotten dreams of a lovers face

The comfort is the grave

Within the shadows of rust

Building up to evils desire

A body no one can save

Left in hell like lust

No redemption for the vampire

Long forgotten, that human feeling

Of what love once felt like

With only tears of blood to cry

Red thirst, of this life stealing

Condemned to feel that spike

When an immortal can die

Like an old tree uprooted by the wind
And flung down cruelly
With roots bared to the sun and stars
And limp leaves brought to earth --
Torn from its house --
So do I seem to myself
When you have left me.
