Drink up today.
Blunt the burden of your thoughts.
Immerse in friendly darkness.
Numb the shadows
             Until you’re lost.
As you blur into vague tears,
Paralysed by emotion,
And dazed from fear.
Drink up today,
For tomorrow will those shadows reappear.

Summer slips by as calm currents set sail.
Branched briggs filled with daydreams and fleeting desires.

Autumn unfolds with a deeper mellow.
Leaves ripen and fall
                                     into amber foliages.
Their unspoken stories camouflaged by the fiery dance of iron husks rustling in the autumn wind.
Unheard memories nestle up to familiar feelings,
As an intimate forgetfulness begins to fall.

Step... Step... Step...*

Gravel groans and trees whisper,
As a stride splinters the silence.

Heel chases toe,
Unearthing new tracks,
Shadowing where he once was.

Thoughts fixate,
In a battle against pace,
As a breath permeates each pause.

His body begs a break,
As his will presses onward.

But he persists,
One step at a time.
For one day, he will conquer.
1,2,3,3,2,3.

Mutters and Murmurs
Avoid my ears.
As I walk past,
Their eyes will leer.
"Fear not!" I say
"The matter is different."
Yet the words that trail,
Are not so indifferent.
