All of us
Sara Strickland Oct 2010
this is what we'll be
when our faiths deferred
bent with no freedom
for the caged bird

our eyes will roll like maddend stallions
we'll blunder in a crooked step
for this is the work of our fathers
this is their regret

we should have had gratitude
and bended our knee
but we broke the order
plunged into the sea

atonment comes from
a far away place
for we're terrified of triumph
sunshine on our face

self loathing is spiteful,
it darkend the pain
we're all so lost,
Gods love in vain

now that we're finished
I am sure to say
our revelation is over
as dusk breaks the day

raindrops in the eyes
thunder in the mouth
I see rage mounting like snowfall
from east, north, and south

drift away, drift away, drift to the sky
now we know the scriptures no lie
drift away, drift away, drift to the sky
we chose our fate, now we die

They love me all, it's true
Sara Strickland Dec 2010
I know this to be true

I have a million friends
they all live under my bed
there's Lucy, Lou, Marry, and Sue
They love me all, it's true

When I leave for school, they stay behind
They wait for me all day
When I return they have such good things to say
They love me all, it's true

And when I am gone for far too long
they venture from my under bed
they wail and cry and gnash their teeth
"She left us forever! She left us all for Dead!"

But the moment I return
they run and hug me all at once
Only to have such good things to say
They love me all it's true

This, I know is true.

In a soft lament
Weep to earth and give us life
The sky slowly churns
