SaddestTurtle Jan 2014
As I look out at the dying Earth, a thought comes to mind, of a warm home and hearth, and lovers that I pined.

The cracks appear on the crust, the atmosphere bleeds into space, a thought lingers of broken trust, and my lover's face.

The planet splits in two, coming apart, like a cracked egg, or a broken heart.

The imaginary screams of a billion souls fill the non-existent air, my mind wanders to thoughts of her velvet voice and auburn hair.

As I stare at the ashes of my former home, the realization comes that I am all alone. A single man among the stars, destined to wonder wide and far.

I am nothing.
I do not exist.
Quite frankly, I am surprised that life
has not issued a cease and desist.

I wander through life, an illusion to others
I matter to no one, not even my mother.
But do not cry for me, do not shed a single tear
for although i matter not, i have no fear.

There may be those among you who would cry that
"This is far from fair!"
Do not trouble yourself though Friends.
I no longer care.

If the world ended tomorrow
this man would not cry
for he knows that his role in it is as insignificant as a fly's.

We all play our part in this story of Earth,
mine is the one best burnt in the hearth.
