A Flower
Sabrina Moreira Oct 2014
Gold in a field of red,
A jonquil in a field of roses
I lay in this flower bed

Impossible for my naked eye to make its way without pausing in your direction,
My eyes latch on to your presence,

I yearn to touch your delicate pedals,
Your scent makes my knees quiver,
Natures delight,
I feel whenever you're in sight

With all the temptations rushing through my veins,
I react on one quick impulse
convinced you were unbreakable
I tear you right out of your skin
Clasping on to your destroyed design
I ruined you so I could call you mine

Your colours begin to fade
Illuminating yellow into dull unclean gold
Your once strong stance has deflated like a balloon
Your pedals become fragile
you have lost your bloom

I trickle water over your frail body
in hopes that the rain will revive your glorious stem
But I've lost you

Lost the sight of your royal existence
Lost the aroma of your pure core
Lost the only flower I wanted to see more

Lost  your once embroidered frame
Selfishly ripping you away from your root
I lost the once exquisite you

A golden flower in a field of red
A jonquil in a field of roses
A flower that is no more
