OYSTER AND PEARL
ruhani dogra Mar 2013
Like the sky overhead,
We rise above all.
Like the ocean behind,
The rain doesn’t lead to our fall.
Rough tides sometimes,
Otherwise calm as a monk.
Clouds coming and going
But what we have stays strong.
Maybe someday a perpetual tsunami will rock us,
Or the blazing sun will dry us out,
But till then till then
You’re the oyster
I’m your pearl.

Because I am me.

I may not be the prettiest girl you know,
The one with the perfect hair and warm smile.
I may not be the most intellectual one,
Who can tell you anything you like.
I almost always don’t dress appropriately,
Sometimes overdone sometimes under.
I don’t always have the right words to say,
And sometimes I surrender,
surrender to love and apathy and hate,
and sometimes i leave things up to fate.
I laugh out loudly,hysterical almost
And Sometimes I leave my room in a mess
And think im being possessed by a ghost.
I cry if I have to and I throw tantrums,
I sometimes hide my feelings ,
To make sure u don’t run,
Run away from me becuase im not that perfect girl,
Who'll always look the right way and do the things you want,
And everytime she speaks i'tll all sound like a song.
So perfect and appropriate that it will steal your heart away,
So much  so that it'll give you a reason to stay.
No, im not her and ill never be,
But atleast with you all im being is me.

ITS YOU
ruhani dogra Mar 2013
When nothing feels right,
And home seems to be far away,
It’s you; it’s you I want to look for.
When the world turns its back on me,
And no one thinks I’m able,
It’s you; it’s you I find my strength in.
When I can’t hold my excitement
And my happiness is unbound,
It’s you; it’s you I want to be with.
When the world is ending,
Like they say it will,
It’s you, it’s you
I want to be holding.

Can it be possible
That life is nothing but a dream?
Maybe one day well wake up,
Only to find that none of it was real.
All the joys and sorrows
Of victories and defeats,
The feeling of hope and love
Were as surreal as they seemed.
All the mountains and oceans
And tress and life,
The friends we made, the tears we cried.
Those moments of elation and the feelings we had,
The times we spent eating candy and laying back in the sand.
The pretty dresses we wanted and the heels we admired
The musicians we wanted to meet and ambitions we wanted to fulfill,
Were nothing but fragments of our imagination.
