Stopover
rugbrat Dec 2014
They say
You can’t make homes out of human beings
But I made one out of you
All those 3am conversations
Thinking you felt the same way too

I dug myself a hole
And knew eventually I’d fall in too deep
In the end
I found myself buried
Under your lies and deceit

They say
Play with fire and you’ll get burned
A moth to a flame, I was to you
You led me on with burning desire
To a path all bent askew

Then the light left your eyes
Conversations ran dry
She came back
And I knew you would leave
Right then and there I felt your goodbye

They say
You can’t make homes out of human beings
And I made one out of you
But I was just a stopover
On your journey to someplace new

maybe
rugbrat Jan 2014
maybe it's the way he laughs
at the simplest things
or the brown eyes
that remind me
so much of yours

maybe it's the butterflies
i try so hard to hide
when i get so weak in the knees
and my hands tremble
from just hearing
the sound of his voice

maybe i will never stop seeing you in everyone
maybe every now and then
you will keep
crossing my mind

i could go on with all the maybes
i could think up all the reasons
why you never stayed
but i guess
i'll never really know why

What does it take
For a second of your attention
Just a simple smile
Or a glance in my direction

I tune them out
When they say I deserve better
They say I'm a fool for liking you
But what they think doesn't matter

How lonely it is
To fight alone in a losing war
Just know I'll always be here
Always longing from afar
