The quince thief
RL Smith Jan 2014
Bury my hands in your warm embrace
plant my love
in the soils of your labyrinth
my garden of earthly delights
Fly into my heart
my summer love
all red, and green and feathers
my fruits to you surrender
Autumn skies kiss my lips
gifts of plenty
bequeathed from the land
come, share my bounty
Satisfy my appetites
and I will leave you here
to breathe again
surrendered to the night

One night
RL Smith Jan 2014
One night of anonymous loving
You don't remember his name
One night of love and adventure
Playing the singles game
One night to end all others
You will never be the same
No more loving for you now
No one for you to blame
Your body slowly dying
Your mind being driven insane
One night of anonymous loving
Was it worth it for the pain?

The Women's Coalition
RL Smith Jan 2014
Like a meme of activism
This women's coalition
Mothers
Sister
Friends
Pioneers and heroines
There's courage in their convictions
A guild of collectivism
They hold luncheons in their kitchens
Talk of abolition
Mysticism
Feminism
Of heroes and magnetism
Seduction
Love
Eroticism
They scream like banshees at a crucifixion
About injustice
Dereliction
Terrorism
A tradition underwritten
With symbolism
Drums
Violins
Musicians
They may be sitting
They may be knitting
Baking muffins
Folding linen
Running errands
Stuffing chickens
A juxtaposition to their ambition
Of inspiring the unwilling
Turning derision to optimism
Their fire and brimstone
Will have history rewritten
Freedom of reproduction
Liberalism
Animism
They have wisdom
Intuition
Rhythm
They are fearsome

Warm Honey
RL Smith Jan 2014
I heard the sounds of love
Drip
Like warm honey
From your lips
But when I listened closely
I realised
They couldn't melt
The ice surrounds
Of your heart

The man on the moon
RL Smith Jan 2014
The man on the moon died today
Whilst trying to chase the stars away
The old woman has lost her shoe
And is wondering now, what to do
The worlds gone mad in this generation
But nobody understands the great sensation
As Noah's Ark begins to sink
He just poured himself another drink
Silliness and nonsense

Is it true?
RL Smith Jan 2014
Is it true, what I have heard?
That the world is round, how absurd
And the man in the moon has gone to mars
Did you know in my pocket, there's a handful of stars?
We travelled the sky from cloud to cloud
From imaginary mountains, we shouted out loud
The merry-go-round took off today
Through the sky and far away
We slid down a rainbow, into the sea
Dancing on sunbeams, just to see how it would be
Jack and Jill sat by the well, drinking scotch and ice
And if you read this once again, you will have read it twice!
Sillyness today...

Email ditty
RL Smith Jan 2014
You say you didn't get any mail?
Here's one from me for you to inhale
A new year has come for us to begin
Make new plans, to do anything
Where shall we go, what shall we do?
What new life awaits me and you?
Less work, more adventure?
Or both in good measure?
Find passions and laughter
Live happily, ever after?

Sparks
RL Smith Jan 2014
I love you
But I miss the sparks that fly
From new lusts fire
When the thought of you
Made my heart race and my **** wet
Rather than what we might
Have for dinner and watch on the TV
Now we loll
In the same sleepy bed
Side by side
We pour our passions into our devices
We book calendar time for ***
Yet I love you
Who you are, who you have made me
Our life without drama
I still miss the sparks

You hid well in your disguise
The love that she denies
But in the end you could not satisfy
From the other side of goodbye

Rhyme and Reason
RL Smith Jan 2014
My mind is locked I've writers block
My song won't come, it can't be done
There's no recipe for my melody
Nothing resonates or motivates
Theres no cohesion

no rhyme and no reason
No reason in my rhyme

So I visit that great dreaming place
It infiltrates and  illuminates
The sleeping, brings me meaning
Its where I belong, I find my song
It's a remedy for my melody
But its a parody

no rhyme and no reason
No reason in my rhyme

Ideas abound, but their not profound
My point of view is a little askew
But my prosody has some clarity
If I just redefine my paradigm
Words are freedom

no rhyme and no reason
No reason in my rhyme
This ditty was actually written as a song to a rap tune

Begin again
RL Smith Dec 2013
The earth keeps tuning
And so does my yearning
For something new
A beginning
A dream

To be inspired
To be desired
An inspiration
A holy grail

Grace is a mountain
RL Smith Dec 2013
I fell from the bottle, landed at your door
unraveled before you I can't do this no more
Blindsided, triggered you lay me to waste
How am I gonna to get out of this place?

I scream at the wind my suffragettes prayer
For redemption, deliverance from despair
I run with the river, dive into the storm
Chasing transformation, to be reborn

I question your motive, do you understand?
Dry land falls, I'm washed up on the sand
Craving and clinging, gasping for air
You sit mostly in silence, do you really care?

Sweating the seas, aching for more
Resisting and wanting, fearing the fall
Grace is a mountain, life is a tree
I sit in nature, it breathes life into me

I'm ragged, exposed, I am here, I am now
I look for repose, it finds me somehow
The winds sweep the streets, storms overtake pain
I am searching for me, only I remain

I run with the river, I dive into the storm
Chasing transformation, to be reborn
Words tumble freely into your lap, onto the page
I cry, full of tears and anger, sadness and rage

But play me a soul song, sing me to spring
The rhythms of life let the insights in
You broke the tide, I surfed the wave
Daylight comes slowly, my dance is remade

Finding the way
RL Smith Dec 2013
Lost in the wilderness, sliding through days
A runaway from innocence, drifting away
Hopeless, directionless, twisted, depraved
Tracks mark the time, the path from the fall
Winding a trail, to dying for more
But shining a light, on the road to redemption
Gifted with spirit, bestowed with rebellion
Finding the way, eroding the dark
Footprints to hope, redefining the mark
The renegade tamed, a new day, a new laugh
Remade and rewritten, a volition to pass
Returned to the future, arriving, at last

ROSALIND
RL Smith Dec 2013
She turned heads in the street,
They fell at her feet
life it was so bittersweet
He saw her at the station
Makin love to all the nation
She made him her Salvation

They fled to the coast
They boarded a boat
They were Running to hope
A new life and a new land
Dreams that were grande
She was his firebrand

Rosalind
Where will she go
When the hot north wind blows?
If the fire of hell's within you
Where can you run to?

Packing cases and teacups
Babies, friends and meet ups
All sweetness and secrets
Their past left behind
Their life as they designed
Their future enshrined

But when the cracks start to show
And when hopes start to blow
And night seeps in to the afterglow
They fight like thunder
Their Dreams ripped asunder
Their lives start to rupture

They each took a lover
They made each other suffer
Their love began to wither
She was tormented by grief
Life became a thief
But, him she couldn't leave
