DEMOCRACY-PLUTOCRACY-BUREAUCRACY

OUR DESIRE TO HAVE A DEMOCRACY
HAS VEERED TOWARD A FETID PLUTOCRACY
AND I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKIN'
IT'S THE MONEY THAT'S STINKIN'
IN THE POCKETS OF OUR "ELECTED" BUREAUCRACY

I'M A BIG WALL STREET BANKER
SKULKING AROUND
LOOKING FOR SWAPS
WHEREVER THEY'RE FOUND

I'LL BUY 'EM ALL UP
AND BUNDLE THEM TOO
THEN I'LL FIND ONE MORE SUCKER
THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU

I SELL YOU JUST PAPER
MAKE YOU THINK YOU'RE A PRINCE
WHEN THE MARKET GOES SOUTHERN
I DON'T EVEN WINCE

I'VE GOT ALL YOUR ASSETS
YOU'RE HOLDING A SACK
TAKE THE HUGE BONUS
AND NOT GIVE IT BACK

SIX MONTHS AND RETIRE
THE PUBLIC FORTUNE IN HAND
WHILE YOUR CHECKBOOKS ON FIRE
I'M SIPPING DRINKS IN THE SAND

THE CYCLE haiku
robert ondis Jul 2014
May snow in Texas
Surely a sign of cooling
Yet not stressing it

The snowcaps disappear
And ice sheets may be melting
The last coral reef

Is it a cycle?
Come out on the other side?
With many smiles?

Yet where is the bear
And missing the humpback sea
I do feel crowded

Oh well, I'm old
Leave it all to the next group
They can handle it

Just look, can you tell
They won't be smart about it
You can see no care

Forget about that
You didn't care on your turn
And now it's our turn

You had your fun time
So now we want to party
We'll stress later

AN OPPORTUNITY
robert ondis Jul 2014
I'M LOOKING
FOR WHAT EVERYBODY IS LOOKING FOR
AN OPPORTUNITY
TO BE DEVOTED TO SOMEONE
THROUGH THE CLOUDS AND DRIZZLE
TOGETHER
REFLECTING ONE OF THE SCATTERED BEAMS OF LIGHT
THAT PIERCES THE DARKENED CANOPY
AT THE END OF THE STORM

TO LAY AMONG GERBERA
IN RED, LAVENDER, FUSCIA
AND OTHER COLORS, PAINTED
AN OPPORTUNITY
TO EVOKE NATURES INSPIRATION
SO RARELY MANIFESTED IN THE HUMAN FORM

AWARE OF THE DEVOTION OF ANOTHER
JOYOUS AT HAVING BEEN GIVEN
AN OPPORTUNITY
TO EXPERIENCE THE STREAM
AND TO FLOW IN IT
WITH YOU

OPULENCE
robert ondis Oct 2014
Opulence is disgusting
You must not realize
A parade decked in the finery of your achievements
While one billion spend the day searching for a glass of clean water
On display, your ability to acquire more than you will ever need
Occasionally even a statement of disdain for those with nothing
You must not realize
The toll you take on the whole with your zeal for acquisition
Opulence is disgusting

SEND ME YOUR CAKE
I'LL EAT IT ALL DAY
DO WHAT I WANT
DON'T NEED PERMISSION TO PLAY

YOU THINK I'M A GOD?
WHEN I RUN DOWN YOUR BRO'S?
IF I STEP UP THE ANGER?
CALL YOUR SISTERS ALL **'S?

I KNOW YOU'RE A *****
YOU THINK THAT I CARE?
KEEP BUYIN MY RECORDS
STAY OUT OF MY HAIR

I KEEP SPEWING THE VENOM
YOU KEEP ON BUYIN'
I'LL GLORIFY VIOLENCE
THAT KILLS YOUR KIDS
WHY YOU CRYIN'?

BECAUSE YOUR SO STUPID
I'M THE RICHEST AROUND
BE SPENDIN' YOUR MONEY
KEEP TEARIN' YOU DOWN

AS YOU GET OLDER AND WISER, YOU START REALIZING THAT MORE AND MORE PEOPLE
DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
YOU AMASS SOME KNOWLEDGE AND START FINDING YOURSELF IN CONVERSATIONS WITH PEOPLE THAT
DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
ARMED WITH THE FACTS, YOU STAND THERE AND LISTEN TO SOMEONE YOU KNOW DOESN'T HAVE THE FACTS. THIS PERSON
DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
IT'S ALL ABOUT KNOWING WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF IN THIS SITUATION. HERE IS WHAT YOU DO...
1. DON'T START ARGUING WITH THEM. JUST SHUT UP AND STAY WITHIN YOURSELF LONG ENOUGH TO END THIS ENCOUNTER PLEASANTLY.
2. MAKE A NOTE TO YOURSELF THAT THIS PERSON
DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
3. IN ALL FUTURE ENCOUNTERS WITH THIS PERSON, REMEMBER THAT IT'S NOT IMPORTANT WHAT THE SUBJECT MATTER IS, THIS PERSON
DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT.
BE ALERT AND CAREFUL TO WEIGH THE STATEMENTS THEY MAKE. ESPECIALLY IF IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
BECAUSE THEY DON'T.
4. MAKE AN EFFORT TO AVOID THESE PEOPLE, INSURE THAT NONE OF THEM FIND THEIR WAY INTO YOUR CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE.
THESE PEOPLE WILL BE THE ONES THAT IMPART THE BAD INFORMATION AT A TIME WHEN GOOD INFORMATION IS CRITICAL. YOUR RELIANCE ON THIS INFORMATION WILL BE THE REASON THAT, IN THAT MOMENT, YOU FIND YOURSELF IN SOME SORT OF A JAM.
BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT!
IF YOUR LUCKY, IT WON'T BE A SERIOUS (CATASTROPHIC) SITUATION. BUT YOUR NOT LUCKY. THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE TO BE SMART. BECAUSE IT'S BETTER AND MORE RELIABLE THAN LUCKY.

MY PLAN
robert ondis Jul 2014
My plan was your fulfillment
Even saw you when I dreamed
Every waking moment
Thought of you, it seemed
Would strive to make you happy
To know you're not alone
And tell you that I loved you
When I called you on the phone
I knew you'd be the woman
To whom I would pledge my life
We would be together
Would cherish you, my wife

I would tell my plan to anyone
That hadn't heard it all before
One thing I hadn't planned on
That you didn't love me anymore

My plan was to adore you
To explore you, to amore you
My vow, a promise to protect you
To respect you, not reject you
An inner peace, so sure of my devotion
That would allow a tide of desire and emotion
To completely overwhelm you

No real need for ardent passion nightly
To gently kiss behind an ear
Or down your back
To touch you lightly
Might be all the proof
Of love that you require
And just as often
Our two forms
Entwined
In rapt desire

My plan, a life together
More passionate than our lives before
One thing I hadn't planned on
That you didn't love me anymore

My plan, to make your heart sing
I'd get to see it in your smile
Our bond revealed in your eyes
Radiant all the while
THEN DRAMA!
I'd find your wedding ring!
Hanging from a star!
All the love it represented
Shining from afar
A retrieval from the heavens
I would offer it up to you
In all, a solemn promise
Always, to be true

And I would tell my plan to anyone
That hadn't heard it all before
One thing I hadn't planned on
That you didn't love me anymore

I'll Make a Note
robert ondis Jul 2014
I'll make a note
to form your image
in my mind

Asleep
I'll lay among the daisies
That I find

And gaze upon your face
Cast in clouds
Of a kind

Not dreamt of before

Drawing near the end of days
The zealots, in a mindless craze
Hear their God, they heap with praise
Call all the "others" no more than strays

Instructed to exact the pain
Till all the rest have all been slain
Rewarded with virgins
With whom they will lay
Bathing in pleasure
Beyond the last day

Then there's the other group
So caught up in the hate
So sure that their enemies
Have sealed their fate

That they have not read
The other camps book
So, will witness the Hell
When the time comes to look

Their God is the greatest
Each side is so sure
They will be chosen
Their word is more pure

Yet the word was not written
By a God, but a man
So full in his ignorance
Not lacking elan
In a time of no Knowledge
Consideration, or Care
When thunder brought anger
From gods through the air

The key to remember
Only knowledge holds truth
We must cast off the faith
No understanding without proof

— The End —
