Be Alive
Robert Fox Sep 2013
Dont fight.
Were never right.
They say go fly a kite
Im tired of being out of sight
I want to be a guiding light.
Or i may run away tonight.
To a place thats ever bright

We can sing.
We can make their houses ring
With all the change we bring
They are done playing king
Lets make them feel the sting

Of that burn
We thought we had to earn
Now ive learned
Our tide can turn
Lets make the oceans churn

Tears
Robert Fox Sep 2013
Hold them in
Save them up
Remember the reasons
We cry so much
Let them go
And count them slow
So that you will always know
Why it is
That people cry so

Sea of Tears
Robert Fox Sep 2013
She was neither the prettiest
Nor was she the wittiest
But heed your heart
When such a person starts
To stir your friendship
For they may posses that special bond of kinship
Yet alwaysbe wary and afraid
Of loseing that friend to love dismayed
Although your heart may be sure
For such a heartache there is no cure
The pain you will feel after such a year
Will bring you to shed many a tear
Time will pass but this love will never die
No matter how hard you try
Just seeing that person will get you high
Then saying goodbye will make you want to cry

But only because of this scar

The one I got from your thorny vine

For when I crossed your paper thin line

You lashed out and broke this heart of mine

Tangled Mist
Robert Fox Aug 2013
These words i put down on paper
Have swirled through my mind like vapor
Churning through my thoughts all twisted
Until my minds eye was foggy and misted
So now i try to feel my way
Across a landscape that shifts everyday
Help me to see, please help me get free
Of my tangled feelings mixed up in me

Night Light
Robert Fox Aug 2013
When my hope is gone
Like my favorite song
And the night draws to its end
I see a light so cold and bright
As it creeps over the land to write
Its name in plain sight
Of the world just waking
But i can feel the earth quaking
Under the feet of history making
Its daily rounds of toll taking
This has to stop, we have to fight
For the prize of unending night
Then no longer will we fear the light
Instead we can stay together
Forevermore suspended as a feather
In time not falling
Rather listening to it calling
Never again parting ways
We will never face the fall of days
Stay free
Don't ever be
Afraid of the dark
For it is the spark
Of a new dawn
Time moving on

Anxiety
Robert Fox Jul 2013
“Anxiety”

Hell awaits seething
As flames flow bleeding
Through my fingers burning
The tears in yearning
Shed in payment red
For my shadows dead
All they sought was redemption
For falling to temptation
Never stopping to think straight
Judgment I laid down on their fate
Only to find the light
Was always in the right
Again I have fallen prey
To everything the voices say
Anxiety...Anxiety
Its all I can hear
...
Next all I can see
....
I'm sinking beneath
.....
The weight of this sheet
......
Being pulled over my face
.......
Now I share with them their fate

Letters
Robert Fox Jul 2013
Let me tell you about a boy
Who developed a brilliant ploy

To bend the mind
And befuddle the soul

So he would not be alone
Sinking sinking, as a stone

Thrown from his own hand
Yet never to reach dry land

For he was not good enough
Never could he be so tough

As he was natures friend
To the very bitterest end

But his nature betrayed him then
While he sought to send

Letters long with words so strong
That none could lift them save through song

Never Say Goodbye
Robert Fox Jul 2013
If i ever say goodbye
While we are standing face to face
Just know you should cry
As never again will i chase you
Through the sky so high

I will fall through the hall
For my world is tipped on its side
And i tumble and call
In my quietest voices I try to hide
From the people of my life so small

What if I leave and die
Will you fall out of the sky
If I never said goodbye

Dont Lie
Robert Fox Jul 2013
Swim against the rising sun
Learn to live a life of fun

Dont go bad
Because youll just go mad

With all the pain
So then whats left to gain

Save fear and doubt
Just take them out

Let them die
And try not to lie

As i have cried
And nearly died

From pain caused by you
With all that you do

monster
Robert Fox Jun 2013
A freak with a gift
The beast able to lift
The very sky
And hold it high
But no one sees
No one heeds
Its whimpers of pain
They only want to gain
Control of a monster
Who tries to say he lost her
His beauty and love
When he reached up above
To help all of you
He lost her too
Now he is alone
Frozen to the bone
With fear and doubt
Unable to shout
That he needs his life
His love his wife
The only one who never screamed
But looked up and beamed
At this monster so strong
Who no one had loved for so long

So run and hide
Any who seek to guide
This giant will
Let loose and ****
Anyone between him
And his most precious gem
You wont be cut
Or clawed and shut
In a coffin cold
Filled with mold
He needs no weapon save his eyes
For they will pierce through your lies
Laying bare your soul
Leaving just a gaping hole

You will die, you will fade
But he cannot, for there will always be shade

Race Together
Robert Fox Jun 2013
From Seattle
To a battle

I fought my war a million times
When life was hard ide make up rhymes

In the hopes that some one
Could take me away and run

To the places
With a thousand faces

Its New York and Paris
And a stop on the London ferris

But all i care about
Is hearing you shout

That im all you need
Together and in the lead

Racing through the skies so blue
Straight to the place that no one knew

Now were alone
And together we sink like a stone

To the bottom of the sea
Where forever we will be
The only ones....

Just you and me

goodbye
Robert Fox May 2013
“goodbye”

Don't think
Don't even blink

The stories are coming
The songs are humming

Rising to ****
All those who fill

All imagining dreaming
And pictures sinking

My stories are stirring
The beasts are luring

Don't look
Don't leave

They know your names
Just as they know my shames

I had them under control
Until I tried to console

The monsters I made
Then put in a cage

But I broke
And then they spoke

For When I thought
Is when they fought

Now I see
My burning tree

Its my heart
The very start

Of love and laughter
Along with all i've sought after

But their souls are screaming
As flames flow bleeding
Through my fingers burning
The tears in yearning
Shed in payment red
For my creations dead

Every time I would die
One of them might fly

Afraid I deny their freedom
And sacrifice them fearing

Their fate
Is mine now late

So goodbyes are long
Since soon i’ll be gone

From all this light
And the ceaseless fight
goodbye

Tender Safety
Robert Fox May 2013
“Tender Safety”

We wallow in fear and doubt
And cry that we’ll never get out

For the beasts pacing in the night
Give us leave our senses with fright

As the stars close in around you
My anger broke its bonds and flew

Straight through the window in the sky
To rest upon all light and fly

No more in such earnest hate
Of bonds and chains or locks of fate

But to love and laugh and laughing love
Your safety as tender as the wings of a dove

The Owl and the Fox
Robert Fox May 2013
“The Owl and The Fox”

Silvery white shines the moon tonight

As the sea caresses the shore

And rain slips through the door

The wind roars aloud

At a ship sailing on a cloud

My safety seems so weak

For these walls are all i seek

To guard against these forces strong

But my safety will not last for long

This hope I abandon in all

And pray to God to catch my fall

His hand i do not feel

Though his help I know is real

My castle is gone

Standing alone I feel so wrong

Secluded on this sandy stretch

I look to my right and to my left

Then looking to the water black

I see a face that has no lack

Of terror and fear

That drowning is near

Forgetting all thats been lost

Saving them is my only thought

Plunging into the icy sea

I try to save them as i tried to save me

Kicking back in hope of life

The waves cease their strife

And the wind sinks in its icy knife

Looking down to face this man

I see it was a woman i brought to land

Taking her hand

I lift her from the sand

Staring at me she opens her lips

Then speaks in a voice not honeyed or crisp

Never the less her speech I can tell

Is the voice of an angel chiming as a bell

I try to let go of her hand lily white

But she holds on so very tight

And whispers so slight

Nine words in my ear

That I could barely hear

“Thank you for saving me

my gallant gray knight”

Heart skipping a beat I knew that I would

Love only her for as long as I could.

I'm sure you can see

Even though this may be

A story far off way out in the sea

I still hope in my heart its about you and me.

One day
we will pay

The price of freedom
the price of love

For we see them not
till they are gone

Like shadows we sought
to hold them to long

When bells ring
and people sing

The night will come
to blacken the sun

While cadence of war
makes the world so poor

Our reasons are wrong
like an evening dawn

Now we look
at what we took

Seeing the cost
we mourn the lost

This pain I feel
Should not be real

The things i've seen
Made me terribly mean

Till all I felt
Was my need for help

As I call out in fear
No answer I hear

So I curl up in pain
And hide all the shame

Of being so wrong
For so very long

When ide realized my faults
I put together my thoughts

But now i'm afraid
And with tears i have paid

For again I am falling
And no one answers my calling

Seeing a future so pleasant

Since sorrows are bold

Most painful to youth

Now lend your ear

The colors of our world
In her hands twisted and swirled

Hold them tight till love do you part

To let them change and bloom and grow

Love them now and love them then

But dwell not long lest they turn to fear

For love is strong and often kind

Though still it burns so often blind

As it never leaves behind any foes

So look not back nor left and right

All will be a part of your heart to go

For a ride far away far
Only on the boxcar waiting

If along comes your man
Will i become a sideshow

When along walks my girl
I'll ask for you to lie

Because i love you more
Than anyone should like to say

Since you're my girl
Then let me be your guy

For you will fade
As I lay in this bed i made
