As we wait upon the shore,
Looking out at an endless sea.
I stare deeply in your eyes
and all I can see is me.

Across the oceans we will roam,
As we let time pass us by.
For you are all the company
I will ever need until I die.

I embrace the future we have,
As we continue on in stride.
For you are the one I love,
And I am happy to be your guide.

My heart glows at the thought of you,
And it pounds when you are near.
My dearest love, please come with me
On a voyage, far and clear.

With my hand held in youras
And a glimpse of what's beyond.
My truest feelings will always last
Even after these words are gone.
An old love poem I found, it's corny as hell, but I'm still proud that I managed to keep the theme of a voyage throughout without wandering off into abstraction.

I am subtle, I am something.
Born with a fist that never raises
I am broken, I am sullen
Dead in the field of sardonic praises.

Dearest friend, can you bide this time,
While the sweet sanctioned misery lies.
      Tomorrow begs for another rhyme
As I drift away and sever all these ties.

Aged and abetted by the illusion of something
It transcends the sight my weary eyes can see
Beyond the pale, I will hope for this foxhole
To guard my heart and beg for some kind of mercy

I've forgotten the same lesson again
Please tell me what I need to beg my sin
I am lonely in this painting of dread
Release the colors to see the fate within

Here I go again, falling in love with you
It's true that I never spoke your name before
But it's a star-crossed hope I never told
And frankly it's not one I ever cared for

Blinded by sympathies and tortured symphonies
I cannot bring myself to watch it crash down
Between the synthetic sounds, I will bound and resound
Until I can see you in your purified gown

Distance makes fools of the many and sages of few
Words will drill into my conscious light
To break down at the mercy of this life
To said that I was the one to put up a fight

No, I am the martyr of your dreams
Dressed in sacred cloth and meant to seem
To the masses in your thought, a savior come
But only to awake from this ironic dream.

You can only keep me out for so long
For only I can hear your secret siren's song
The drought will wash away this life
In the buried moon, I will have my wife

For the lies can only dream of better truth
I cannot help myself from the days of my youth
I will tear through the time it took to come
From the years I stood silent and dumb

Do you know how many tears I cried for this
How I've longed to feel the sweet sacred bliss
Upon the altar, I will beg the moon to shine
For the fields to flow with pomegranate wine

I cannot bear the distance and the cost
For I can only remember what I've lost
To turn this death by the longest path
To burn my troubles in sacred ash.

I can feel your heartbeat a mile away
The faint memory makes me smile
For if only I could must the courage today
To face what I've not faced in a while

The bravest of men fall at their hands
In midst of the magnificent splendor
The hopes for which we could understand
Will only further my ignorant candor

I too cannot sleep in this cold night
Alone and waiting for something to arrive
Do you hear the voices and their plight
For it is my heart that cannot survive

When the bells ring their custom sounds
To sounds of the nothing to come
I will soothe my hearts lonely rounds
For this kind of fate is only meant for some

If only I could gaze upon your face once more
To receive the bounty of the gods' splendor
A night of untold wonders, lust and bliss
To break the weight that linger before the kiss

I could work out the words for an eternity
But I hold on to my soul for the sake of brevity
Closer to something that means nothing at all
And from the skies they will hear my call

Down to the heavens and up from hell
The liars and thieves will never tell
How I broke the chance to become it
The towering giant of soul and wit

For where do my fantasies lie?
In crowded dreams where women cry?
For why does the night linger on
When all is said and all is done

I cannot play into this subtle game
For the first rule requires a sense of shame
A hold the sweet ribbons of coal
To ignite the spark and make me whole

A stolen verse or two subsides
In memories that will never hide
A regret will linger amongst her eyes
Until my heart grows to the perfect size.

I love the sweet taste of irony
engraved onto these cement walls
The troubled kiss of courage,
would guarantee that you never fall

I'd miss the growing ebony thoughts
that flow like rivers and wine
To graze the simplest of truths
Would be to grace the divine

A daring act of hope will last
Through the cloud of tears
A trial to be forgotten hence
For years and years and years

Stretch the metaphor to sing aloud
Amongst the chorus deep within
The love will run rampant now
Through the gates of sin

A liar was made of me today
When I told the world who I was
For I see no reason to ever be
For I only seek a single cause

Please take from me this hand
To hold in glory and in fate
To remember the past I had
To have done everything too late
