Through it all we rise!
Renee Plenty Dec 2014
Trending upwards always, where the peaks and troughs alternate
But the general trend is upwards and indeed we continue to rise.
We cried a cry of laughter and pain;
A mood that kept us going all day,
Sitting under the tree of desolation
Bathing in the rain of confusion.
The days and night we spent working to reach that place of completion.
Streams of blood flowing down our faces,
Which reflects the aches and pain.
We run, we shout, we laugh, we jump,
But through it all we rise!

We rise to be determined, to be real and responsible!
But is it our thoughts speaking?
We’ve reach a stage of confusion,
A place of no belonging;
Wanting to belong in this trouble world
But still fell through the tracks.
We run, we shout, we laugh, we jump,
But through it all we rise!
We rise to defeat life’s challenges;
To stand firm and to be sure.
To run over the cracks and fill in the blank spaces in our turf.
We’ve reach the stage of completion after being held in physical *******,
Physical ******* that keeps the soul moving and the body fit.
With the help of our maker; with use of his manual,
We can conquer anything that stands in our way;
So together we run, we shout, we laugh, we jump,
But through it all we rise!
One flies….. All soar!
Together we rise, above all, we rise!

Hypocrisy in Democracy
Renee Plenty Jun 2014
Strumming my pain with this paintbrush;

While singing my life with these chords

‘You are killing me softly’

By discriminating my sensuality towards my creativity!

The societal concept of embracing movements

And identifying the aesthetic value of the mind

Or the aesthetic concept of a painting with just

Two colours ‘Black and White’

Labelling the imitation of nature;

changing the concept of gravity.

You see!

The mind-set against me

Is killing me softly!

Why don’t you just love me!

Accept me and my uncommon norms

That expresses all elements of society.

I am not all about practicality

but theory and ingenuity.

Can you imagine how I turn your boredom

into entertainment?

Can you imagine if I was dead?

Your misery, would be such a misery

Because I contribute to eliminate

Misery by turning such misery

into artistry.

But the perception of me

is not just 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th position

but far- fetched and non- existence.

Watering the marketing fruits

Of medicine, accounting, law,

mediocrity and other fruits that are eligible

to your nature.

While I sit on the side of civil agony,

fighting for your attention; for you to water me.

I’ve been discriminated

And violated by the words

Of the hegemonic community

Who strums my pain

With their mouths;

While I sing my life

With these chords

‘You are killing me softly’

I am more than just your

Rolly Polly-Jambalassi- masquerader or One drop movement

I am not just your pick me up

When you want me to tell your

La Diabless story or sing to you future fantasy!

I am more than just your ordinary

Kotch pon di programme, bubble gyal ah bubble,

Misty Blue, All of me, Turn down for what lullaby!

I am more than just a Point or Flex!

You see the point is - society need to

Adopt me, nurture me, dispatch all

Hegemonic forces against me

And Flex on my actions

Because right now “THIS ARTISTIC STRUGGLE IS TOO REAL"

Abandoned Love!
Renee Plenty Jun 2013
Abandoned Love!
I thought our love was more than material things;
the fun times we had, laughing at each other silly jokes.
Sending you messages every three hours everyday!
I prayed for our love to last every minute of each day.
Finding excuses to be in each other’s presence;
The long hours on the phone,
the sneaky getaways on Saturdays to the movies
Our rebellious but clean acts!
I thought every ounce of it was real!
But then it happened!
Insecurities kicked in!

The want for material things took precedence over the love I had for you!
Through trying times, you had no remorse!
The skeleton exposed his dry bones!
The heart I thought was sacred, was just old wood waiting for a fire to catch!
Your heart turned to coals!
And your reflection on love was dark as evil!
Can't believe I placed my trust in the hands of the joker
And not the King!

I ask myself " What does it profit a man to gain the world and loose his soul?"
The lost of loved ones and eternal life!
How could the lifeless have preference over the living!
That shows you are another heartless being.
'Greater love has no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends'
And I neglect this unfailing love!
For a bag of dry bones!
I took his love for granted; the Creator, the Father, the true lover of our souls for flesh!
I guess my playing small serves me right!
But his greatness made me new!

Genesis!
Renee Plenty May 2013
So, what they call you man!
and you feel you could execute me;
with your lies and selfishness!
Not because your masculinity gets ah hold of you,
you could exploit me!

I cry at nights,
while I hold my thighs,
as you ****** me!
Dang!
My memory is frozen cause you contort me!
You're like a pick pocket!
picking my womanhood.
You torment my me
So, what I am a woman,
Don't frustrate me!
Trying to turn me into Jezebel,
with your ****** calamity.
I'm fed up with this exorcist!
Going to start a Genesis!
A new beginning!
I'm like Daniel,
in the lion's Den;
Not afraid of creatures like you!
So the next time you move,
I cut!
Cut you mentally!
Cut the frustration!
Exploitation!
Your actions!
Liberating myself with my voice!
