You see the despair in my eyes
And I, the sadness in yours

You ask me if I'm okay
Why did I lie to you
Then whisper the truth?

"It will only be a little while" you say
"I'll still miss you" I weep
I just ask that you hold me
Hold me and never let go

So many words unspoken but known

I lean my cheek to my palm
And grin stupidly

What if I told you I loved you?
But you already know
What if you told me you loved me?
But it's not in the same way

What if I told you I would die for you?
You already saved me from myself in the past
What if I told you you are why I'm alive?
You might cry but it's not the same way around

What if I hugged you?
They would see it as acceptable and you would embrace me
What if I kissed you?
They would say it's forbidden and you would push me away

What if you felt the same way?
You could not act upon it
What if you did?
I love you too much to let you fall

What if they could see it my way?
The problem is they never will
What if age, occupation and relationship didn't matter?
The problem is it always will

What if the only thing that mattered was love?
