Imagine
Rachel Sinclair Jan 2011
Imagine a pretty picnic scene
Sky so blue, grass so green
Birds soar through the cloudless sky
Steam rises from an apple pie

The nearby stream trips along
One girl hums a happy song
Her dress is pretty, pleasant blue
Do you wish you had one too?

A silver bracelet on her wrist
She picks a daisy, can't resist
She's pulls the petals one by one
Encouraged by the golden sun

"He loves me, he loves me not"
Did not remember, she forgot
What he said that day in June
So far from this afternoon

One petal left, one line to say
Would it ruin this perfect day?
She holds her breath and lets it go
"He loves me" but does she know?

That wasn't luck, that wasn't fate
How much longer will she wait?
That flower only spoke the truth
And yet she still wanted proof

Imagine a lonely picnic scene
The boy is nowhere to be seen
One girl, sitting all alone
You can't enjoy this on your own

She starts to leave but hears a sound
Slowly rises from the ground
It is the boy, he finally came
Softly, she says his name

"I didn't think you'd ever show"
"Of course I would" but does she know?
A silver bracelet on her wrist
She kisses him, she can't resist

Imagine a pretty picnic scene
Sky so blue, grass so green
He slowly whispers "I love you"
Its not so lonely now with two

The Boy
Rachel Sinclair Nov 2010
He looks at me and smiles
And my insides melt to goo
He pulls me close, lips to my ear
And whispers "I love you"

He takes my hand instantly
Our fingers intertwine
He claims that I make his day
But I know that he makes mine

I shuffle closer to him
Because I like him near
I feel his finger on my cheek
As he sweeps away my hair

He looks at me and smiles
And my insides melt to goo
He pulls me close, lips to my ear
And whispers "I love you"
