This Day.
Priyanka Dey May 2015
There is no tomorrow,
There never was a yesterday.
All we have,
All we will ever have……
Is this one last day!
One day……. This moment,
This second…..  the infinity,
Lose yourself in the vast expanse of life,
Rise  up from the sands of time.
Let those memories so unkind,
Fade away as you let your own Sun rise!
Give up on travelling the same old roads,
Hold back yourself  from wandering hopelessly,
In deserts unknown.
For this search for a perfect life,
A painful memory, a happy time,
This search shall **** you as you behold,
This day die a death so slow……..

Only a lens
Priyanka Dey May 2015
Some eyes only stare.
Most, look away.
The rest sleep in death,
And a few, they communicate.
Through a language unknown,
Through curtains and glares,
Though only a lens,
Some blood---
The rest only synapses.

Some truth it reflects.
They imprint on the veins.
You shall never forget,
The realities you witness.
Flooding your eyes,
With answers you need to accept.

Hallucinations,
Nothing, but only illusions.
You shall remember them too---
For they lead to what lies on the other end.
Mistakes you will make,
People you will have to watch walk away.
Like a storm that invites the rain,
Like a frozen dragonfly,
Your eyes will burn in that flame---
Flames of wonder,
As the facades melt away.
Flames of vacuum,
As their real faces corrode your stare.
You will learn through your walks,
All along, a million miles.
You will rise and you will fall,
And yet, keep walking…
Behold them all!

Unknown, undefined.
These eyes, they have their own way.
A finite infinity,
Beyond all eternities,
The sight that you touch,
Of darkness and light,
You must treasure them all,
In good days and bad times.
And don’t hinder your vision!
It’s not only a lens,
Don’t look and then look away,
For they are only blind for another day.
Leaving behind a diverging trail.
What shall remain,
Is the choice you make---
One road down,
Those eyes close forever.
Another path followed,
These eyes change colour.
Whichever you choose,
You cannot escape---
A never-ending search,
Of sights never beheld.
Lumps in the throat,
A sting in the spine,
For what could have been,
Shall die unseen…

Into the black
Priyanka Dey May 2015
What lies there?
There, that vacuum I’m staring into…
Hey, do you live there?
There in that orange-black expanse?
Will I reach you?
Can I hold you?
I have my arms spread out wide!
Can I know you?
May I behold you?
For one one time!?
For you seem to be a flavor,
I imbibe when I sleep.
For you seem to be a torture,
That keeps me awake as I breathe.
A faceless entity,
A significant nobody,
Why must I stare into you?
Why must I want to be a part of you?

There where the Sun melts away,
Where the Moon marks the end of day,
A few dazzling specks,
Only drops of dew,
From my colourless eyes,
They reach to you.
Scattered in what lies beyond,
Swimming in the arms of the dark,
I wonder if all my answers breathe,
Breathe, live, right right there!?
All those…I’ve had to let go,
All deaths that have passed by so slow,
Time unlived…time unknown,
I wish my life, you live right there!
For here I walk an unseen road.
The same paths to travel,
Only one air to breathe,
Nothing is ever different,
Alas! Only one life to live!

Here I shan’t find that life,
This little time and infinite memories,
I will carry them all!
I will take them with me…
Once these eyes close shut forever,
Once, my breath marks not another,
This soul shall fly, she will escape,
Down a road, you cannot trace—
Then into the black,
Into fresh green leaves,
Into fading time,
Into new found memories,
Into a finally found paradise,
Into these unending skies,
Into my long beholding eyes,
Into my lost lost life…

An Act
Priyanka Dey May 2015
In his arms, not in his heart.
I twist, I turn,
He won’t hold me tight.
No warmth, just a white bed sheet,
It’s freezing, this heart’s concrete.
Unwrapping his dead still hands,
I turn around again,
In search for warmth…
A moment flies by---
I pull myself closer,
I dig into his chest deeper.
Where’s the warmth?
Where is the love?
Another moment crawling---
I find myself double checking…
Looking around the room,
Then drawing him nearer.
Third moment onwards---
I know, I know now!
Red lipstick. A piece of cloth,
They have stained, they have killed it all!
What am I hunting for?
For that, which was never there?!
In a black skirt,
And with less than a blouse,
I crawl my body out of bed.
An hour’s gone by…
His time, it’s over,
Now I must, let him go---
For there’s another coming,
For a second good hour.
And then, a third hour,
Some more red shall wipe off these lips.
Tainted, diseased, darkened,
Some needs must remain unseen…
Off the bed,
Some touch to the unfeeling eyes,
I have to look my best,
Their payment must be worth it!
My feelings, this vacuum,
These screams,
A curse, many fallen boons,
They shall die, when left unknown…
Another man,
This present hour---
A foreign touch,
Cold, frozen arms.
Two machines working,
Two souls drifting apart…
Only an act,
For only sometime…
With no beyond and no unknowns,
Some moans, the rest only sighs,
This is the fallen paradise.

Immortalise
Priyanka Dey May 2015
Oh! I have so much to write!
A million miles to travel in little time.
And with imaginations,
These tornado-like thoughts.
Moonlit snow,
Blinding stars,
Storms that rise above all wars!
Tear-y rain,
Pearl-like dew,
A sinking universe,
This disappearing view...
Through oceans that sing,
And birds melting into the skies,
Fountains that fly by,
And magic that never dies...
I have another hour to live--
Million more moments to breathe.
Old memories to weave,
Another beyond to believe.
Death you cannot steal--
This fire in me to still exist!
For I have more to behold,
Another lip to kiss,
Roses to fall for,
I have this life to live...

Headstrong
Priyanka Dey May 2015
You know I wont listen.
It's clear I don't care.
The reasons are few--
Not one said.
Not once explained.
I have walked this road...
The same everyday.
I have swallowed your glares,
I have borne so much pain!
Time's running out,
I can feel it in my chest.
Something's stuck!
Something's wrong!
I cannot get this straight.
And there you are--
Along with the rest.
Barking continuously,
With litanies that know no end.
You ought to stop!
Care to take a break?
Because no one is listening.
Nobody cares.
I am here to live a life,
And I need to live it well.
So you take your stuff--
Your opinions...your demoralizing self.
Take it all and disappear,
Get out of my face !

Step out !
Priyanka Dey May 2015
Stop!
Only once, just stop.
No it's not a prank,
Just one of my dares.
This is no crisis situation.
I assure you nobody's dead...
I just need you to stop.
Just stop and stare--
Look around...hold that stare!
Do you see something?
Anything at all?
No, not those textbooks,
Not your coffee, or papers or the bed.
Look a little more--
Perhaps for another minute or two,
Feel the place ...
This room where you are.
Is this home?
Is this where you want to stay?

Money

From a ripple to the roar,
Of desires and desperations,
Hopes and aspirations.
With songs unsung, memories unseen,
Moves undanced, sights unblinked.
They riddle through a riling heart,
Languishing the clod of infinte memories,
Leaving behind a trail in oxblood,
On lanes of the suffering they imprint,
Never-failing pillars,
A Niagara of ambition,
Struggling and chasing,
The ring road of passion.

In this passage of arms,
The wants and these cries,
Shall put up a fight,
The first of its kind.
Moving every mountain,
Warming stiff snow,
Freezing the unforgiving fire,
Chocking the unmoving souls.
With a focus down unshaking roads,
They shall create a nexus,
With the nimbus, the whole universe,
To provoke the storms,
The thunder and the tides,
To hold their arms, to stay on their side,
In this endless unfailing ride.

With the mantra of victory,
And horse-like sight,
They come marching to lead you,
Down this one one life.
But in this march of time,
Through the years that crawl by,
Every road that you take,
Clinging onto dreams you've always dreamt,
Shall engulf a mist--
Some cocainic smoke,
That sting your eyes as they behold,
Your graceless retreat,
From closing doors.
Those million desires,
From burning heartaches,
Shall freeze and founder,
Fall and break.

Only leaves of paper,
Made by a dry-eyed stranger,
Doping human wants--
Most passionate minds.
Rendering them coarse and dud,
Cloudy and undone.
These leaves, they decide it all.
Your breaths, your wants,
The heartbeats, your wish grants---
The forest,
The ones who have most,
Shall foreshadow,
They can foretell,
The end of the roads they choose to take.
And those who have fragments,
A passive flow,
They know not where this journey,
Will allow them to go.
And yet they fight!
They give up their all!
But alas!
In this clientele of cliche,
Will breathe a cradle--
Will live the neverness of the niche,
That bears, where blooms,
From a dying ripple, to the fading roar,
Of desires and desperations,
Hopes and aspirations.
That will not live,
Oh! They die so slow...
As the pillars fall,
The Niagara runs cold.

Not for me
Priyanka Dey May 2015
A cascade in crimson.
It’s a waterfall of petals.
They fall on you,
They fall on them.
I’m standing right there,
Beside you, and beside them,
I’m not wet.
I’m not wet.

Another infinity,
A different reality,
It passes unnoticed,
I pass unidentified.
Unwet, unsoaking,
In heaven’s greatest delights.
Some truths, mostly scars,
They keep me engulfed.
They keep me dry.
They keep me dry.

Some things,
They’re not for me.
Most things,
They walk away from me.
It’s like I live a half life,
A half smile,
A half lie.
There exists these walls,
These demarcations,
They surround me,
They eat me up.
I’m not allowed to proceed,
Or make a recovery,
Only stand and sink,
Into questions unanswered…
Into ‘’God loves thee’’---
And ‘’God loves thee nots.’’
I don’t know why!
And yet they stand,
They separate me,
Me from you.
Me from them.
Me from heaven’s forbidden delights,
Me from the crimson rain.

What lies beyond
Priyanka Dey May 2015
Far away from this world of love and hate,
Far across the unknown oceans that separate,
Into those skies that never end,
Lives infinity.
The greater infinity.
The unknown, the undefined,
Something beyond this life where we exist.

We shall never know,
We shall never understand,
We shall never be in touch,
With this genre of beauty.
For we know not how to live,
We know not how to see,
We are mere earthlings,
Enclosed in the little boxes where we breathe.

We think we know it all!
We believe we rule the world!
Alas!
This ruling,
The genius brains, the twenty-first century,
Loses its life, its importance,
When made to stand before,
The greater infinity.

There is a world beyond our world,
A Life larger than life,
Stories, more complex than ours combined.
We know nothing!
We are not the masters,
Not superior to anything!
'Cause,
          We breathe in the midst,
          Of a beautiful something…
          A fascinating, unknown,
          Undefined everything.
          An infinity beyond the sky,
          beyond the unknown oceans,
An infinity far away from this world,
An infinity beyond you and me…

Frost
Priyanka Dey May 2015
When the first ray of dust,
Made love to the last drop of rain,
A rainbow breathed,
In the shades of grey.

A million hours of togetherness,
Thirty seconds of love.
A lifetime of burning memories,
And only a breath to make us part.

I tread that path now and then,
Making my way through leaves uncrushed.
Bleeding as I walk over,
Some diamonds scattered in the dust.

Memories’ the only undying flame,
Amidst trickling tears,
And a cold beating heart,
A friend I have lost today.

Now as I stare at the black expanse,
Into the ocean of nothingness,
As  I sink and melt onto hopes  unknown,
I feel the wind curling down.
After heaving a few more sighs,
I realize,
Those   foot prints that we left behind,
Are gone, lost in the sands of time.
