I cannot say exactly what love is. Neither can any human poet on earth. Yet many have tried and still more will try. They string together moments they felt it; moments it grazed their hearts as it passed. Or times love was seen, just out of their reach. Sightings of love, that made them stop and think. Some may live thinking love is a feeling. But Jesus Christ shows something less fleeting. He came down to earth, took on human life. Took every rejection starting from birth. Suffered in a world that chose sin each time. Never changed his choice - to for this world die; chose each beating while being crucified. Love is patient - given when patience is wearing still thinner, when waiting is pain. Love is kind - given when the feelings of others would be easier ignored. It does not envy - its given in lack, in times of thirst while watching others drown. If easy, its natural reflex - not love. Love goes against survival, against pride. It is not "you would do the same for me." Its no strings attached, no expectation. 1 Corinthians 13 versus 3: If I give to the poor all that I have, but not out of love, then I gain nothing... Shows us that love is still more than action. 1 John 4 verse 7 shows where love comes from. God, who is love, is indeed love's origin. Not one has ever gazed upon God, but know that if we love, he lives in us. Whoever lives in love lives in God too. He gives us his love, his power to share. The living God moves in our love and care. I can't define love, but I can say this... Love cannot be given in human strength. If you have met love, it was from above. You are gifted love to share to others, the moment your heart lets in Christ Jesus. If you have this, know the power within. If you do not yet, then call on his name.
