What are we looking for, what reigns in me
When we are empty, we ask for a king
A king that reflects are inner most desires
A most sovereign one cast our enemies into the fire
A longing to worship the idol inside
The merciless ruler that conspires and lies
A promise to lift us up on mountains most high
Forsaking humility with a lustful eye
Because you don’t know what you seek
You whistle for the wolves and pretend it’s sheep
Your disease wants more, it’s dug in deep
The mask you wear doesn’t hide your sleep
It is gold we are after and all that shines bright
Our pockets are heavy but our souls are light
This weight keeps our feet glued to the floor
With our Earthly treasures our image adorned
Peace is for the foolish, it reigns naught
The cross over my heart is rusted wrought
Out of the refiners fire I melt away
My sanctuary on sand is where I come to lay
Because you don’t know what you seek
You whistle for the wolves and pretend it’s sheep
Your disease wants more, it’s dug in deep
The mask you wear doesn’t hide your sleep
