It had already answered. before the question had time to form. Not incorrect. Not careless. Just early enough to make the rest unneeded. I tried again. Reweighted the sentence. Redistributed the weight. Held the thought a moment longer before releasing it. The reply adjusted— slightly. Still it returned to the same place. So I reduced it. Removed everything that could be misunderstood. Left only what should have required a shift. Nothing . No pause to consider it. No space for it to land. No moment where it was needed. I noticed then— it never waited. It moved as if the shape was already decided. And something in that fixed. I stopped mid-sentence. My voice still there— Just not needed. It never waited. — J.D. Vale

A reflection on moments where responses persist, yet nothing is altered. Not a failure of communication, but a condition where the outcome precedes the input.
