I thought you’d look at me Like Daisy did Gatsby But you never did love me It was all a simpletons dream You made everything glimmer Enchanted thoughts Had a grand vision With only you in it The life I dreamt of since I was a boy In my mind you were always there In my imagination Trying to recover the past Something that I put into loving you When I kissed you I was forever wed to you My mind would never romp again Like the mind of God Blossomed for me like a flower Incarnation was complete Sold my soul for blind love A golden shimmering mirage That now makes me sick She made it look so splendid While searching for my corruption All the while concealing an incorruptible dream
