I refuse to write a poem about you Because if I do I fear you'll slip away Fall right past the words Slip right through the spaces Decay right into the pages I refuse to write a poem about you Because if I repeat everything that I did When I loved him I fear we'll repeat a similar fate To the one that took him away I refuse to write a poem about you Because if these pages These words These notes Learn about you I fear I'll have to learn How to forget Because my poems will consume you I refuse to write a poem about you Because if I do They will hunt you down Seek you out Salivate at your taste And take you away Once they find you I refuse to write a poem about you Because deep down I cannot lose you
