Many of us, we
women have many selves, esteemed
for our fertile skin, pregnant with worth
tightly held
hostage, bound and tied
up in roping expectations, tethered
to womb’s empty ache, yearning
to have just one more self, if only
to be more than just a woman, wasted.
Many of us, we
women? just want to be
counted.
