as memories given to the sky’s embrace
we will become constellations; winking in and out of existence
in and out of awareness.
 sometimes shining exuberant, sometimes
trapped within the clouds
or obscured by the day; forgotten beneath the blue and the warmth.

but on a clear and calm night our words
will cast nets into the starry scatter; we’ll catch shapes
in the blue velvet abyss
and name them as if we understand.
in that grain passing through the hour glass, find a
moment to marvel
what once was but is no more, still sparkling where time can’t reach.
