as memories given to the sky’s embrace
we will become constellations; winking in and out of existence
in and out of awareness.
sometimes shining exuberant, sometimes
trapped within the clouds
or obscured by the day; forgotten
beneath the blue and the warmth.
but on a clear and calm night our words
will cast nets into the starry scatter; we’ll catch shapes
in the blue velvet abyss
and name them as if we understand.
in that grain passing through the hour glass, find a
moment to marvel
what once was but is no more, still
sparkling where time can’t reach.

the darkness always gave us
permission to abandon composure.
never a clue to what time it was,
like animals or teenagers. the street lights
encased us in amber and we
weren't real anymore.
we were projected on screen, above a
vault of plush seats.
I can remember your commanding voice, you said my name
with an emphatic period at the end
skipping ahead of you I was a kamikaze suggestion,
giggling in haphazard exclamation points
you caught up to me and
full of fire, you stopped me and whispered
softly, contrasting your demands with your
hand on the river of my spine.
"be quiet" you said and folded me
like origami, all I could see was the warm concrete
near my nose and your legs behind mine.
everything into me, with each push
and a comma of a gasp, taking
all of me with you and into you.
there in the middle of the street, I got lost
somewhere around midnight.

~ " ~
through this twilight universe
where poor ghosts, breathing dreams
like air wander
they walked along the moon-lit gravel
into a bright rosy colored space
boats against the current
frightened but graceful, on the edge of
a deathless song
a stir and bustle among the stars
as she blossomed for him like a flower
pervading the air with shades and echoes of
still vibrant emotions
against the blue cool limit of the sky
he forever wed his unutterable visions
to her perishable breath
and so they drove on toward death through
the cooling twilight

your hands are strangers to me.
without the breathing
crystal scent of
the river
on your calloused
finger tips,
you're playing the same chords but I can't recognize the song.

of running
of fist throwing and fire
cutting scars and betrayal
without
him, my soft skin
exposed
and rough wounds
imperfections
stealing sanctity
bind my arms

painting you in blues
all varying shades of blue, like
the ocean kissing sky
just beyond your door, like
the diamond patterns we
slept upon, made love on
and those jeans, your
favorite t-shirt,
always blue
my eyes soak it all in and
shine the blue back to you
ships that swim on your walls
and songs that pour
from your fingers
awash in blue, words
caught beyond realms
words that spill from
this pen, blue letters
and blue truth
I know where to find you in
the night sky, beneath
the mountains where we
found the quiet,
found love in the
silence in each other
you are kept by the blue
you were born within, by
all parts of me you stained and
everything that is you, always
blue, forever blue

a slow and practiced
dive off the edge
and up to my neck in boiling
iridescent foam, bunches of
savage pearls, a well of scalding
contradictions enveloping your
names all over my limbs, I'm just
a letter to a shadow lover
sent to the flames for feast

I've been eating myself from the inside out
trying to explain your fragile mystery,
searching for ways to capture and frame your
tiny bubbles of whispered elusive innocence
but I can't seem to find a reason in my static colored mind
only a hope to someday run away with
you into some sparkling unknown oblivion,
where soft roses will whisper between our nestled fingers
and we'll become the essence of our shadows born from the stars.
but I wouldn't need my eyes nose or ears
just to smile and feel your
humming soul's eloquent melody in my veins
