How do the indigent survive
for who or what they strive?
a haze of drugs, and alcohol
camping sidewalks, stores, and malls
A wandering too stay alive
from place to place, or dive too dive
trying to stand strait and tall
from lofty places fell, or fall
Ushered in as they arrive
cold and wet, and yes deprived
programs designed to stall
not enough, for some, for all
We see them when we walk or drive
the crazed the mad un-contrived
in the land of plenty so enthralled
no answer for the holding call

Yup, Austin has just "Decriminalized" homelessness, local business' are up in arms, as vagrants can now pitch tents almost anywhere and panhandle anywhere, as long as it isn't in throughways or aggressive.
Don't get me wrong, I support the homeless, to a point, this just goes way to far down the road to encouraging it. We need more programs and monies designed to lift these people up, not keep them down. D:
