Jesus wept! You're still a teenager for Christ's sakes. You've barely lived. If you give up after so little time invested, you're a fool to yourself. I didn't meet my wife until I was 22. We've been together 18 years now. Look on the bright side; time is not against you.

i agree with the fear, the uncontrollable loneliness and desire to give up, but i'm hoping those of us who feel this way will be proven wrong some day, we'll just have to wait and see

That feeling of loss is new to you? The sting grows less in time. But you will become wary of stinging animals, always reminded of the first time you felt the strong pain of it. Life will go on. It always does. Find your place or make your own. Choose wisely they told me at the age of 16, too young to know much of anything. You will be ok. I can tell.

Did you know every 10 years your life change is 100%. From the time you&#8217;re born to age 10 it&#8217;s easy to say. From age 10 to age 20 maybe when you get older you start to realize how little you know. So My theory is I am beginning my sixth life I wonder what it holds something wicked this Way comes days of sunshine in tears hopefully not too many fears but as you get older life it&#8217;s a completely different proposition. I fell in love with my husband at first sight. On night three he told me he loved me a night seven he asked me to marry him. I said the first thing that came to mind are youF&@king kidding me. I told him to wait a year and asked me again. Two weeks before the year was that he was again down on bended knee now he said. We have been married for 38 years a lot of good and a lot of bad but we&#8217;re in it for the long-haul and there&#8217;s no giving up. When I met him I said I was never going to get married And then I met him and I knew he was the one. It&#8217;s really strange but it happens.

I feel this is such a sad poem and I can only hope that one day you can be proved wrong. Not all love is fake tho I agree romance can be a lie. I&#8217;m hoping you will find a person, a pet, an interest that will help you feel less alone. &#128170;

This could be true if you&#8217;re old and isolated but probably not. Either way, your poem is valid snd real. Took either some courage or great disappointment to write. Courage lasts. Dissappointment not so much.

I agree with everyone else down here, except the parts about teenagers having barely lived&#8211; I'd like to think I know a lot more than most adults with their lives held together with safety pins at the seams. 

I'd suggest getting a pet if/when you are able to, because unlike with friends or partners you don't have to wait for one to come to you.

First, what I like most about this poem is that it is honest, to the point, and it provokes a powerful feeling in the reader, which to me amount to the three most important elements in any poem. Second, no one knows the future, not even the best fortune teller. Things can happen suddenly, and those sudden things are sometimes very good indeed. So, if this poem is autobiographical, know that the winds of change never stop blowing. Peace & Best wishes.

As was just like you. Didn't have my first long term relationship until I was 41.... We've been together for 3 years now and are planning to get married. I never lasted more than a few months with anyone until then. And I'm frightened, still.
