Time spent Love built just to be broken But aren’t hearts closed just to be opened? Another day With words left unspoken And you? You’re focused On chasing empty emotions Hurting and taking Welcome to my lesson: The art of breaking Just one glance Is all it took You stole my heart I was hooked Added me to your little black book Then took me for a ride My heart I left unprotected, On my sleeve, now feels neglected Thrown on the table were all my fears You did your collecting, then disappeared I was naked in mind and rejected By one to whom I felt so connected. Time to hide Embrace the aching This, my friend, is the art of breaking. Break out the tissues It’s time to cry Pour out your heart to some weird passerby You’re being suffocated by your thoughts and their lies “It happens, it’s life” Quotes that mean to help, but don’t Grasp the hopelessness, feel alone Your life you begin forsaking Now you know the art of breaking.
