When you watched through the eyes of a child mommy slice her wrists and sob into the pillow Where did your broken childhood go? When your lover leaves and the blinds remain shut so the only thing you feel is rain Where do all the sunsets you've missed go? Welcome to the tree of life A grave yard for humanity Filled with the corpses of futures once so bright Our love cannot end up in the ground Not a flame Not a flicker Not a spark to be found So come, my darling swing with me from a branch atop the tree It is not a noose of rope But a necklace of our last hope
