When it is raining
I don’t need
an umbrella
because
those aren’t raindrops,
but water.

And I go inside
smelling like
wet garbage
and cigarettes
evaporating
directly into the
nostrils of
the people
who I'm afraid
won't like me.

They bought their umbrellas
on sunny days
because they are smarter
than I am
because they knew
that the sky falls
from time to time

but I didn't know
anything about that.
