Shadows creep across the bedroom

Frightening shadows

You wake with a start

Right when you have it together

It happens all over again

Shadows from the past

Shadows from someones sin

It can't be your fault

That's not what the shadows say

Look into the darkness

as you avoid the day

Cigarette butts overflow the bowl

Whiskey glass spilled into a vacant hole

The light outside is frightening

it never lets you sleep

The light says get up and

face what you have reaped

You cower in the corner afraid

to say a word

Shadows have all the power

in this your tiny world
