The shotgun sun rose
this morning to find me
again running awake
after 24 hours of work
and drink and rage.
7 AM rolled around
and I hit the high water
mark with the understanding
at long last that I am
just as insane and damaged
and soulless and drunk
as people always told me I was.

That didn't bother me at all and I slept peacefully for six hours before getting ready to do it all over again.
