cat eating dry food,
refrigerator whir,
large jet five miles out,
cat licking water,
hot coffee sipped,
laptop fan drawing air,
cat brushing pant leg,
dry skin -- lacing fingers,
barely audible -- keyboard keys --

sounds I will funnel
          into a tin,
          place a lid,

rhythmically spice shake the tumult with one hand while
