to thy son
from thine father
and from his father
and up through the
years

bits and pieces
of each other
every family is imperfect
and beautiful

I smile at my cousins,
and my uncles, and
my aunts

they,
all pieces of me

me,
all pieces of them

come together
every year
to love,
be merry,
and celebrate

each other

and the little things
able to keep us
together
