SMILE OF REASON

Ayad Gharbawi

1988 - Boston

Witness the word
Of God that smiles
On reason’s passion,
Believing in a time
That you can predict
For yourself
Can never to be,
If only your eyes
Can glimpse!

For all the manners you display
Can you discern the
Traps
Being set upon this stage
Of a theatrical horror, called
Your ‘life’?
In your wisdom,
You can beseech
For all the birds to love you
In their joyous paths
Of pleasure
And poise;

You see, right across your skies at night
You laugh now,
At the joker’s nightmare
Becoming, a reality
To you,
And you can only accept your
World
If they are to be in tune
Within you,
Listen, then, to the smile of reason;
I tell you,
For all these gems that you speak of
Them, that need;
I now tell you
Tell them, to be silenced –
For they have not, for now,
Understood the unseen world.
