Your love
is a drug
the fire that flows through
My veins
like a drug
opens up
the windows of My soul
Oh, I can see eternity
Oh, the worlds I see
the worlds!
and the stars and the suns
they are moved
by the power of Your love
as soft as a summer rain
as strong as steel
as cool as the evening mist
Your love is real
more real than anything else in the universe
it pours out
its endless and bottomless
treasures
I am filled with a lovely pain
a pain that says
enough! enough!
of Me
Oh, I am worthless
an exposed thing
in the full light
of Your love
beyond My understanding
how can You love
one as unlovely as I?
Oh, I am a deformed thing
exposed to the blinding light
of Your love
You are perfect
of line and symmetry
you are filled with an inner glow
Oh, the light of Your love
glows like the light of a thousand suns
a shimmering radiant galaxy
and I poor half formed creature
of the shadows
I slink through the world
on all fours
how could You have such
love and grace
like God's only son
My innocent loving angel
You tell Me
" Innocent not I
for I give My love freely
to what creature come
to what creature may"
You give of Your love
overflowing
it flows from its bottomless store
oh, how could You love
such an ugly half formed creature
such as I
as the only son
opened his veins for all
You open the endless wellspring
of Your heart and Your soul
You are perfect beyond compare
no creature
ever drew breath
on earth
or in the heaven's above
who had such
grace and love
as You
you are beautiful My love
beyond compare
the angels are such ugly and unlovely things
in Your compare
Your love was before
the universe was born
and shall remain
when it dies
out of Your heart comes
endless treasures
untold
beyond worlds
beyond compare
and I half formed creature
can only sit and wonder
at a mystery
kept by the ages
and wonder forever
and evermore.
