During the day
Feeling trapped and cornered
Like an animal
When quite night comes
I have found my home
The utter darkness
Nothing but the brilliant moon
The soft glowing stars
Floating through the sky
Walking down the dirt and paved paths-roads
Hearing what others can’t
Because I listen to the wildness
That flows through the trees
The wind
As all creatures run and slink about
Soft padded steps of a doe
Trying to hide
Fast securing of squirrels
Running up trees afraid
The wild lager animals below
Sensing
The ghostly shadows
The spirits past
Both human and not
Walking the unlit place
Hearing whispers of things unsaid
The rain falling and the thunder crashing above
These things and more exist
In the darkness of night
All of this is my home
My safety net
A place to hide
Where inspiration flows on forever
There is no need to think just to feel
My home all of this is
