You have come to the end of it all
And now it's time to answer the judgement call
There's nowhere to run, nowhere to flee
The perfect judge is standing there asking
"How do you plead?"
But you are so deep in this ocean of sin
That you can't even see
The depths of your depravity
And you are so consumed by the desires of your flesh
That you don't even realize that there is nothing left
Gone is the innocence of your lives
You've just been living a life full of lies
But you are so bought into this deception, this deceit
You confidently say I'm innocent, I'm living a life that's sweet
Oh the extent of the ignorance of man
Oh how fallen, how washed away in the sands
You are
Then the righteous judge, he takes the blinders off your eyes
And you can see that your sin falls like rain from the skies
And it piles into a wave that could sweep you away
And bash and batter you on the rocks
Until you come to the realization with a shock
That you are guilty
Of every evil deed
That you thought you'd never see
You are guilty
Of every selfish thought
You imagined you'd never get caught
But you are guilty
Worthy of nothing but destruction and despair
Worthy of nothing but the electric chair
But just as the gavel is about to pound
Your defense, your savior, he comes down
And says: “In days of old
When men worshiped idols of silver and gold
When mankind was just as deserving of a noose around their throat
They were able to give a sacrifice, a kind of scapegoat
It took their place
So their trespasses would be erased
And I am here to be that for this man”
“But he is full of wickedness”
“I know but I love him”
“But she is a sinner”
“I know but I love her”
“They may never accept you, they may come back and betray you”
“I know but I love them”
So the upright judge says "okay, but just say the word and I'll let you be on your way"
But he doesn't make a sound
He just stands there in silence as he lets the gavel pound
Nails in his hands and nails in his feet
A crown of thorns on his head as he cries it is finished, complete
On day 2 the ignorant devil dances
On day 3 He stands over the corpse and whispers “You had your chances”
But as he walks away
Thinking he could rule the world his way
A light from behind him bursts forth
And the dumbfounded devil was blinded when he saw the source
“How could it be?”
“And what could this mean?”
He cries out in confusion
And the living Jesus says: “Let me rid you of your illusion
I am alive
I have been revived
My love will survive
And my kingdom will arrive
But you will die
You have fallen once more
And you will be thrown into the lake from Hell’s fiery shore
And you will be finished”
The devil cowers away, his power completely diminished
And once again your defense meets you in front of the noble judge
And tells you: “look, you don’t have to budge
“But I want you to live in my light and my glory forever
You just have to accept what I’ve done and will I leave you? Never
No matter what you choose to do
I have already completely forgiven you
The verdict is in
And you are innocent
So if you want to live in joy for eternity
All you have to say is that you believe in me
Because I first believed in you
Just say that you love me
Because I first loved you.”
